It’s BABY season!

Things to keep in mind if you come across young wildlife that you think may be in need of help:
🔵 Before taking action, contact a wildlife rehabilitator to see if baby needs assistance.

Black Hawk Wildlife Rehabilitation Project:
319-415-1259
App: “Animal Help Now”

⬆️⬆️ Both resources listed can help you find a rehabber near you!

🔵 If you find a baby animal that does need help:
1. No matter the species, keep it warm, and in a dark/quiet place. Minimize handling to avoid stress.
2. Do not try to feed or water.

Remember that some species such as deer and rabbits leave their young unattended for extended periods of time to avoid drawing attention of predators.

🔵 REMINDER: Most rehabbers are volunteers. You may need to leave a message or assist in transporting the animal to the rehabber.

February is Pet Dental Month!🦷🐈‍⬛

Take a peek behind the scenes as we follow along our office kitty, Louise, getting a routine dental cleaning!

On her annual exam resorptive lesions were noted prompting a dental cleaning, although once sedated with the help of oral radiographs more abnormalities were found leading to several extractions.

This highlights the importance of dental care beyond your annual exams! Now fully recovered, Louise is back to her fabulous and happy self!

Meet Bertie, a sweet little lady looking for her furever home🏡♥️

In late November Bertie was found as a stray and in poor condition. Luckily she found some lovely people that were willing to help her. Now, two months later, she has recovered and is ready for a new adventure. Bertie is very petite little girl. We don’t know how old she is, but she is suspected to be 18mo+, and probably has had at least one litter.

Her personality is extremely sweet. She is shy and very cautious at first, but she loves when someone will sit down next to her, where she can climb on a lap to be petted while she purrs. She loves playing with her toy mouse and sitting in the sunshine.  She makes almost no noise, ever. She would do very well in a home with no pets and with gentle owners, but may tolerate pets who are calm and relaxed.

Her left ear is clipped, and her left eye is slightly droopy. She does not seem to hear very well, but has excellent eyesight. She is up-to-date on her vaccines and flea medicine and will be spayed for her new owners.

If you think Bertie could be your new best friend please give the clinic a call and we would love to tell you all about her!
