Today is International Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD) 2025.

Around the world, 79 million people who stutter and their allies are united by this year’s theme, “A Diverse Stuttering Community Meeting Challenges With Strengths.”

We honor every person who chooses to speak, every listener who makes space, and every family, friend, and professional who stands beside someone who stutters. Stuttering connects people of every age, background, and culture. Please join us in celebrating the many strengths that come from living and working within a diverse stuttering community.

The UNI Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders will partner with the Cedar Valley Sertoma club to offer hands-on activities around the Safe Ears program at the STEM Festival on Thursday. The STEM Festival will be at the W on the Wartburg Campus from 4-7pm and is FREE!

Join us at the Cedar Valley Family STEM Festival on Thursday and participate in over 50 different hands-on STEM activities! Among our amazing exhibitors you'll find Nestle and their sensory activity including milk, chocolate, and strawberry nesquik - what could that be? Only one way to find out!

It was great to see some of our Communication Sciences and Disorders alumni in the community for the parade and on campus for the weekend events to celebrate the kick-off of UNI's 150th year! Save the date for the Iowa Conference on Communicative Disorders (UNI ICCD ) April 9-10, 2026. As part of the celebration, ICCD will be a huge alumni celebration this year so start making plans with your cohort to attend! ICCD will be at the Hilton Garden Inn, Cedar Falls IA. Additional details to come in the next couple of months!
