The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Speech-Language Pathology, starting in August 2026. Primary teaching and clinical responsibilities will be in the area of speech-language pathology, with preference given to fluency or pediatrics. Duties of this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in the applicant's area of specialization, clinical supervision, scholarly research activities, student advising and mentoring, and service to the department and university.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. or research-based Ed.D. in speech-language pathology or related field required. Consideration will be given to ABDs with degree completion by time of appointment. CCC-SLP credential and Iowa license eligibility also required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Specialty area open, but specialization in fluency or pediatrics preferred.

Attention Alumni who graduated with an ug or grad degree from UNI and pursued a career in speech-language pathology:

We are asking you to participate in a 10-20 minute online survey regarding the identification of factors that influence job satisfaction in Speech Language Pathologists. The survey will be conducted amongst University of Northern Iowa Communication Sciences and Disorders (undergraduate level) and/or Speech Language Pathology (graduate level) Alumni.

Your participation in the study is voluntary and you may decline to participate. If you know other UNI SLP Alum, please share this survey with them.

Your responses are confidential. There are no foreseeable risks for your participation in this study. You are free to withdraw from participation at any time or to choose not to participate at all, and by doing so, you will not be penalized or lose benefits to which you are otherwise entitled.

For local SLPs and families: check out the UNI production "Popped!" All shows are sensory-friendly. Saturday, Dec 6 at 11am will be an ASL Interpreted show. $5, need to buy tickets in advanced (see link in post)

POPPED! opens TODAY for our young artists who helped us create our show! The cast and crew of POPPED! have worked with 19 Pre-K classrooms to put together this incredible show, and now the young artists get to watch their work POP to life!

POPPED! is an interactive celebration of storytelling and imagination, inviting families and young book lovers to embark on a journey where stories leap off the pages, dreams take flight, and the magic of reading knows no bounds.

Best enjoyed by children ages 3-6 and their families. All performances are sensory friendly.

ASL Interpreter December 6 at 11a.m

December 6 and 13, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
December 7, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
