Four losses.
Seven days.
Four hopeful families.

And four times I had to say, “I’m so sorry… we don’t see heart activity.”

Miscarriage is more common than we talk about.
And almost never your fault.

This episode walks through what causes early pregnancy loss, what to expect physically, and why you should release the guilt.

If you need this, it’s waiting for you.

Feeling grateful today because God continues to reveal to me just how good he truly is.

There was a time not long ago when I felt stuck. Doors weren’t opening. Prayers felt quiet. But this week, I experienced a they that wait moment. God showed me something powerful. His timing is perfect and even when it feels scary, even when it doesn’t make sense — it was protecting me from a storm I couldn’t see.

So I want to encourage someone today to trust God‘s timing in your life. His instructions are not suggestions. Procrastination is still disobedience. On the other side of your yes is covering, peace, and safety from dangers unseen.

“For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us…”

The outcomes we see in pregnancy aren’t just about individual choices.
They’re shaped by access, systems, and whether someone is truly listening when a woman speaks.

That’s why knowledge is powerful.
That’s why asking questions matters.
And that’s why having community around you can make all the difference.

When you understand your body and trust your voice, you are better equipped to protect yourself and advocate for the care you deserve.

You were never meant to navigate this alone.

And one of the biggest misconceptions I see?
That once the baby is delivered, the danger has passed.

That’s not always true.

Preeclampsia can worsen after birth.
It can become serious days — even weeks — into the postpartum period.
That’s why paying attention to your body after delivery matters just as much as during pregnancy.

Delivery is not the finish line.
It’s a transition — and your health still deserves care, vigilance, and respect.

Some of the most dangerous pregnancy complications don’t look dangerous at first.

A headache.
Feeling overstimulated.
Exhaustion that feels “normal” postpartum.

And sometimes, it’s not that a mama ignores her body — it’s that no one ever taught her what to watch for after delivery.

Preeclampsia can show up postpartum, even after a healthy pregnancy and a smooth birth. That’s why education matters. That’s why follow-up matters. And that’s why your concerns should always be taken seriously.

Preeclampsia affects 1 in every 12 to 20 pregnancies.
And for Black women, the risk is higher, the disease is often more severe, and the outcomes are more dangerous.

This week, we learned more about the tragic loss of Dr. Janell Green Smith, a Black midwife who dedicated her life to improving Black maternal health. Preeclampsia has been cited as a contributing factor. Her loss is heartbreaking—and it reminds us that knowledge, access, and urgency matter.

This reel is not meant to scare you.
It’s meant to equip you.
Education saves lives. Awareness creates action. And every mama deserves to know the signs and be taken seriously.

If this story makes your heart sink, I need you to hear this:
You are not powerless.

There are things you cannot control. But one thing you can control is who you trust with your body, your voice, and your care. This episode is a reminder to choose wisely, build your village, and never walk this journey alone.

We grieve. We learn. We keep going—for her and for every mama coming next.

She did everything right.
And still, she died in childbirth.

This week, we mourn the loss of Dr. Janell Green Smith, a Black midwife who dedicated her life to protecting Black mamas—and yet was not protected herself. This is not about fear. This is about truth. No letters. No titles. No expertise makes us immune in a broken system.

We honor her by saying her name, learning from this loss, and refusing to stay silent. Her life mattered. Her work mattered. And the mission continues.
