Ok, I just saw where a millennial posted this one on Facebook and decided to post this here for debate.

Emotional cut off was the theme of last week. The millennial generation is quick to cut off people they perceive as “toxic” and some praise them for their strong boundaries and others feel it is causing a chasm in families. What are your thoughts and opinions?

Emotional eating happens to most of us. Rather than getting upset, angry with yourself, or dismissing it as not an issue, ask yourself what purpose is this serving you right now. Hold space for the answers and consider healthier options.

Also ask what purpose it serves you to perpetuate negative coping mechanisms. Your brain thinks it needs these negative coping mechanisms because healthy change is hard but if you break it down meal by meal or snack by snack it’s easier to accomplish. Meal prepping is a good potential solution.

After being knocked down hard by life or maybe beat down for a prolonged time, if you can be brave and vulnerable enough to open your heart to heal, be smart and use boundaries to protect yourself from further harm, and increase your sense of control while being vulnerable and willing to attempt resilience.
