We are so grateful for community partners like Phil Decker and his Tell5Friends Foundation. Yesterday, Phil stopped by to donate $4,000 worth of gift cards for our colorectal cancer patients! This included fifty $50 Hy-Vee gift cards, as well as three $500 Visa gift cards for patients with more extensive financial need.

Is your New Year's resolution to exercise more? Get a jump start on your goals with our new "Feel Great in Eight" program! From this Fri., Jan. 2 through next Fri., Jan. 9, stop into the Community Cancer Center for a basic fitness assessment with one of our cancer exercise specialists. You will learn standards for your age and ability, plus exercises to aid your progress. Eight weeks later from March 2-6, drop-in for a reassessment to gauge your progress and set goals for the rest of the year!

Congratulations to our amazing pulmonologists on this milestone! 👏👏👏

Congratulations to UnityPoint Clinic pulmonologists on their 500th ION robotic bronchoscopy at St. Luke's! A bronchoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used for lung biopsies and diagnosing lung abnormalities.

Pulmonologists who use the ION system include Drs. Hamad Azam, Vijaya Gogineni, Hafiz Hashmi, Brian Lindsay, Andrei Schwartz. In addition, Dr. Azam is an Intuitive surgical proctor who educates other physicians across the U.S. on the ION Robotic System.

The Cancer Services division rang in the holidays with our annual team member holiday party! The festivities included our manager Matt Schmitz once again being voted the holiday baking champion, a visit from UnityPoint Health - Cedar Rapids President Casey Greene and VP of Operations Mark Willis, and Healing Energy Worker Marion Patterson wrapping up the party with a reading of the poem "The Work of Christmas" by Howard Thurman. A great time was had by all!

Our team recently provided a large donation of coats and other winter essentials to the UnityPoint Health - Cedar Rapids coat drive. The coats and other items were distributed to those in need as the winter weather gets colder!
