THANK YOU, Eastern Iowa! Thanks to your generosity, the 2026 Hope Blooms campaign was a huge success with nearly $55,000 raised to benefit cancer patients in our community!

In total, a combined 2,757 daffodils, stuffed animals, blankets, gardening gloves were purchased or donated through the campaign, as well 140+ individuals impacted by cancer honored by a loved one who made a purchase. Thank you for helping us bring hope to our community!

Yesterday, Nassif Community Cancer Center Manager Matt Schmitz represented us at The Harkin Institute's 2026 Harkin on Wellness Symposium at Drake University in Des Moines. The theme of this year's event was "The Treatment and Prevention of Cancer."

Matt gave a presentation about the Community Cancer Center, our care coordination model and the wide range of support services that are available to all patients regardless of when or where they are treated.

The Community Cancer Center is also honored to have been recognized as a recipient of the 2026 Harkin on Wellness Award which honors those who have made significant contributions to the prevention and treatment of cancer.

Thanks to DKW Gallery and Studio for hosting us for a Healing Power of Art session yesterday! We learned how washable markers can be used to make a watercolor painting by starting with marker and then using a brush dipped in water. We also used acrylic ink, which acts like watercolor, but is permanent and doesn't move on the canvas. Check out our talented artists' beautiful creations!

“I thought it was 50,” Mark Kluesner said to his wife, Amy, when they were discussing the age to get a colonoscopy. Amy told Mark the recommendation for colonoscopy changed to 45. During his annual physical the next month, Mark was not surprised when his provider ordered the screening. However, the results were startling.
