We joyfully welcomed the First Day of Spring at Prairie Hills this past Friday! 🌸 Thanks to a generous outside donation, each resident received a handmade bunny and chick to brighten their room. They loved the colorful decorations! We also spruced up the dining area with fresh flowers, and our gladiolas are starting to bloom in the window vases. To celebrate, residents helped make pretzel bite flowers to share. Spring brings new life and happiness to our community! 🌷🐣

Highlighting a festive St. Patrick's Day celebration at Prairie Hills! 🌈 Despite the chilly weather, we kept the fun inside with a Parade Watch Party, sipping green punch, enjoying cookies, popcorn, and golden chocolates. 🎉 After the parade, we kicked off our Irish Social with lively activities and even a visit from leprechauns! 💚 Watching Riverdance, indulging in cabbage rolls, pretzels with cheese, and green beer made it extra special. We also celebrated a resident’s birthday with a custom green cake topped with a cute sloth! 🍀🎂

St. Patrick's Day fun at Prairie Hills yesterday! Due to weather conditions and for the safety of our residents, we pulled ourselves out of the annual SAPADAPADOSO Parade, and instead, we hosted a Parade Watch Party in the Activity Room, where everyone was nice and warm. We had green punch, cookies, chocolates, and popcorn during the parade viewing. Next, we went right into our Irish Social with cabbage rolls, pretzels with cheese, green beer, and lots of shenanigans. We even had a group of leprechauns stop by for a visit. The residents loved the festivities inside, despite the cold weather outside. We even celebrated a BIG birthday for one of our residents, too (with a green cake, with green frosting, and a sloth-per-resident request)!

Mother Nature brought a blizzard to Iowa, but Prairie Hills residents are already dreaming of spring! 🌸 Last week, they planted gladiolus bulbs indoors, using vases filled with glass beads and water to encourage growth. Despite the winter storm outside, the bulbs are beginning to take root. Who else can’t wait for spring to arrive? 🌱❄️
