Greeting Point Families,
I hope this email finds you well and having a good start to 2026. Students and staff have returned from the break rested and finishing out the first semester strong. Currently, as a staff, we are working towards the next school year evaluating where we are as a school and considering adjustments that we need to make to raise the bar at Point Middle School and to improve the student experience!
There are some dates coming up that are important which I want to make sure is on your radar:
*Friday, January 16: End of Semester 1- students are released at 12:31 on this day
*Monday, January 19: Schools are closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
*Tuesday, January 20: First day of semester 2 (which means changes in student class schedules)
*Monday, February 2: No classes; staff development day
There are still opportunities to see our girls basketball squads in action at home (last one is Jan 22) with wrestling just around the corner (first home match is Feb 5).
Looking just a bit further down the road we see Parent-Teacher Conferences on the schedule. After gathering feedback from parents this past fall, we are going to host two evenings of BY APPOINTMENT ONLY conferences. These dates are March 10 & 12. The 10th will be held in person while the 12th will be virtual only. More details about how and when to sign up for these conferences will come towards the end of February. In case you are wondering, the 12th is virtual only because parking will be difficult as we are scheduled to host a middle school wrestling tournament on this day.
Finally, we want to let you know our building secretary, Ms. Bell, is moving over to the Human Resources Department next week. She has been serving Point MS and families for the past couple of years. Her energy, passion, and organization will certainly be missed! Our new building secretary, Ms. Kerry Tyler, will begin with us on Monday.
Thank-you for continuing to trust us with your children every day. They continue to thrive at Point and as a staff we are honored to be able to serve them every day!
Take Care,
Paul Williamson, Principal
