2016 is having a moment on social, so we're joining in with our own flashback—when Dr. Gauger passed her boards and joined Iowa Eye Center as a board-certified ophthalmologist. 📸

Ten years later, we're incredibly grateful for her expertise, her dedication to patients, and the thoughtful care she brings to our practice every day. We're lucky to have her on our team!

If you're choosing new glasses, anti-reflective (AR) coating can feel like a small add-on—but it can make a noticeable everyday difference.

✨ Reduces glare from screens, headlights, and overhead lighting for more comfortable vision

👁️ Allows more light through the lenses, helping sharpen clarity

📸 Makes lenses nearly invisible in photos and video calls, so your eyes stand out

🕶️ Helps lenses look cleaner with fewer reflections

For many people, it's a simple upgrade that improves how glasses look and feel throughout the day.

Have questions about lens options? Ask the experts in our optical department—they're happy to help you decide what's right for you.

If you're taking Ozempic® or another GLP-1 medication, you may have seen questions online about how it could affect your eyes. The American Academy of Ophthalmology recently shared what we know so far, what's still being studied, and when it's a good idea to talk with your eye doctor.

Taking Ozempic or Wegovy? Learn what ophthalmologists are seeing—potential risks to diabetic retinopathy, blurred vision, optic nerve health & when to act.

Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of vision loss.
Here are 🖐️ things you need to know about glaucoma:

1️⃣ Glaucoma is a group of diseases that damage the optic nerve, usually related to high eye pressure.

2️⃣ Early glaucoma often has no symptoms, which is why it is known as a "silent" disease.

3️⃣ Peripheral (side) vision is affected first, so many people do not notice changes right away.

4️⃣ Anyone can develop glaucoma, but the risk increases with age, family history, and certain medical conditions.

5️⃣ A comprehensive eye exam is the only way to detect glaucoma early.

If you have not had an eye exam in the past year, call us to schedule an appointment at 319-362-3937.
