🐾 Scout’s Sock Surprise! 🧦

Meet Scout! This sweet pup came to Cedar Animal Hospital after showing signs of a possible foreign body. When we took Scout to surgery, we discovered the culprit — a sock lodged in his digestive tract.

While Scout has made a full recovery, his case is an important reminder of how everyday household items can quickly turn into medical emergencies for our pets.

⚠️ Dog Safety Reminder
Dogs love to chew and sometimes swallow things they shouldn’t — especially items that smell like their favorite human. Common problem items include:

• Socks
• Underwear
• Dish towels
• Blankets
• Scrunchies and hair ties
• Small toys or fabric items

These objects can cause intestinal blockages, which often require emergency surgery and can become life‑threatening if not treated promptly.

If you notice your dog is ever showing signs like vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, or abdominal discomfort, contact us at (616) 696-1212 right away.

✨ Skin Laser Technology in Action ✨

Take a look behind the scenes at Cedar Animal Hospital, where technology and hands-on training come together to support exceptional patient care.

Here at Cedar Animal Hospital, we’re always committed to providing the highest standard of care for our patients, and that includes our skin laser equipment.

This photo captures one of our veterinary assistants learning how to operate our skin laser while a patient is safely under anesthesia. Hands-on training like this is a critical part of maintaining excellence in patient care and ensures our team is confident, skilled, and up to date with modern treatment options.

🐾 How Skin Laser Therapy Helps Our Patients

Laser technology can be an incredibly valuable tool in veterinary medicine, offering benefits such as:

• Improved circulation and faster healing
• Reduced inflammation and swelling
• Decreased pain and discomfort
• Support for treating skin conditions, wounds, and surgical sites

Using laser therapy after procedures can enhance recovery and decrease overall healing time—helping our patients feel better, faster. 💚

🐾 Patient Highlight: Nixie 🐾

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of seeing Nixie at Cedar Animal Hospital when her family brought her into our emergency room. They noticed she had spent the night panting and restless, but she was not actively having contractions. Even though she previously had a smooth delivery with a prior litter, complications during labor can arise at any time.

Her family was very attentive to her behavior and did the right thing by bringing her in for an exam and radiographs. After evaluation, our veterinarian determined that surgery was the safest option to deliver Nixie’s puppies.

Swipe to see:
👉 Nixie’s maternity radiograph (9 puppies!)
👉 Her beautiful litter settled in at home
👉 Proud mama Nixie keeping watch over her tiny crew

Thanks to her family’s quick action and the fast intervention from our team here at Cedar Animal Hospital, all nine of Nixie’s puppies were delivered healthy 🩷

We’re so happy we got to be part of her story—and even happier to share this happy ending with you!

Because of you, we were able to gather an incredible amount of essential supplies for four different rescue organizations. These donations will make a big difference for animals currently in their care.
