It's been quite a while since I posted. Monday I had a 13 hour reconstruction surgery. Minus a blood vessel hiccup, everything went good. I'll post some pictures in the comments. This is just my reality now and this is quite literally what breast cancer recovery looks like for some of us.
They're not great pictures, but it's a bit to be able to see what they did.
The swelling is much better today! The side with the yellow tape is the side she will work on this afternoon. The blue wires are Dopplers that go into the breasts to monitor blood flow. If you are interested in knowing more, do a search of DIEP surgery.
In a few hours I will have another surgery to go in and make sure everything is flowing how it's supposed to. Hopefully I'll be going home tomorrow (Friday)morning.

After almost 2 months, I am finally drain free!!! 🩷🩷🩷 A couple weeks to heal the holes and this girl is soaking her heart out!!! I feel a hot springs trip in the very near future!!!

1/9/24 update: THIS IS A POSITIVE POST🩷
Today (technically yesterday, I just forgot to post this when I wrote it lol)was my 3 week post-op appt and first time seeing the Dr in-office since we found out about the infection in my back. As soon as I got in the room it was discovered that not only is there a back infection, but the left implant and breast tissue is also infected. This is considered an implant fail. Either this Thursday or Monday we will be removing everything and going back flat. Please, don't read this as something bad or sad!!! This is honestly the best news and what I have been praying for (not the infection, obviously, but to go back to flat lol). I have missed being flat! I always loved being flat! This has been the best blessing to come out of these last few weeks 🩷 I can't wait get this surgery completed so I can have my body back 🩷

Removal surgery is tomorrow morning at 1130. Please keep myself and the surgery team in your prayers! It's an hour long surgery and I'll be released to come home after recovery. Thanks everyone! I'll try to update tomorrow evening.

I need my prayer warriors please!!! Yesterday evening I started having deep pains in the incision on my back where they took the muscle for the graft. There is no swelling or signs of infection, so the Dr is sure everything is good. In my support groups, I've been reading a lot about when the nerves wake up and pain meds not doing anything to touch the pain, which makes sense. I still have my drains in, and one of the hoses runs right there also, so it could be on a nerve as well. This is such a bummer because I was so excited to go back to work today... But listening to my body (and my bosses lol), I came home, and will be home through next week. Pain meds helped me sleep, but the pain is still right at the front, so flat-backed will be where I am for a while. Thanks everyone!!!!

Got home @ 315, set up in the recliner for at least the next few days.Thank you to everyone who has been praying and messaging for updates. I appreciate you all so much 💝

On the 18th I'm having stage 1 reconstruction surgery. I am going to be down for a few weeks and need binge-worthy shows to watch. We have most all the major streaming channels. Please let me know what you're loving!
