How a "Field of Dreams" helped a cancer survivor heal after the fight was over. ⚾ Patrick Murphy survived prostate cancer, but the powerful radiation treatments left him with severe, chronic bladder damage that landed him in the hospital five more times.

His urologist suggested an unexpected therapy: hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). Patrick went into the chamber skeptical, but came out healed. He now wants to demystify the process for others. Advances in treatment have caused an "absolute revolution" in lung cancer care, according to Dr. Boris Sepesi, thoracic surgeon with HCA HealthONE Aurora and HCA HealthONE Swedish.

Dr. Sepesi says new personalized therapies like immunotherapy are drastically improving survival, showing a 40% improvement in five-year survival for some advanced cases. He also says early detection is key to a potential cure: https://bit.ly/43nHdFt

If you're at high risk for lung cancer, we offer low-dose CT (LDCT) scans to help detect it in its early stages. These screenings have been shown to significantly reduce the risk of lung cancer by starting treatment as soon as possible. Learn more and find a lung cancer expert: https://bit.ly/43UBeYU. Considering home health or hospice care for a loved one? Our larger HCA Healthcare network offers & Family Care services, supporting patients and their loved ones at nearly 90 hospitals and their surrounding communities. Through these services, we provide care specifically tailored to meet the delicate needs of those facing a terminal illness who, rather than continuing to undergo curative treatment, would prefer to live comfortably and peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.

This National Home Care and Hospice Month, we’re honored to recognize the meaningful work of the nurses, therapists, aides, social workers, chaplains and volunteers who serve our hospice and home health patients and their families. Thank you for providing patients with the physical, emotional and spiritual support they need, with the dignity and respect they deserve.

is the leading cause of cancer-related death according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Many people don’t know the hidden risks they may be exposed to every day. Common lifestyle risk factors include:

🚬Smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke
💨Exposure to radon, a colorless and odorless radioactive gas that occurs naturally in soil
🦠Inhaling hazardous chemicals like asbestos, uranium and other toxic products
🏭Exposure to particle pollution, such as inhaling tiny particles from exhaust smoke
🎗️Prior radiation to treat other cancers

In addition to lifestyle risk factors, a family history of lung cancer may also increase your risk. Fortunately, lung cancer is most treatable when it’s caught early. Across our larger HCA Healthcare system of care, Sarah Cannon Cancer Network treats over 12,000 cases each year, bringing deep experience and compassionate care to every patient.

If you think you may have an increased risk for lung cancer based on these risk factors, talk with your doctor or schedule an appointment with one of our experts: https://bit.ly/4oZYFbt

Every tiny heartbeat tells a mighty story. 💜

Each year, more than 200,000 babies are born in hospitals across our larger HCA Healthcare network – and some arrive earlier than expected. According to March of Dimes, about 1 in 10 babies in the U.S. are born prematurely. This means they enter the world before 37 weeks of pregnancy.

This , we’re celebrating our tiniest patients and the incredible caregivers at HCA HealthONE who support them and their families. As a proud partner of March of Dimes, HCA Healthcare is committed to improving maternal and neonatal outcomes through clinical data, pioneering research and compassionate care.
