This last week I had an opportunity to spend 5 days with some of my family going on the Hallmark Christmas cruise.

It wasn't perfect but it was perfectly imperfect. Go make memories with your loved ones because nothing is forever.

I am personally going through this with my daughter and it is tearing my family apart.

This is a growing trend and as clinicians we need to figure out how to provide tools on ways to strengthen the family unit, not give them the "boundary" word to encourage an adult child to cut off from their parents and siblings.

As a therapist we owe it to our clients to help bring families together and not reinforce emotional cut off.

Few of us can see that the choices we are making at 30 may well lead to spending Christmas alone at 60.

A few years ago I had to turn around on this hike because I was in so much knee pain. Today I did the 6.2 mile hike easily.

Never give up on yourself even when you are feeling your worst. There are better days ahead...just keep going!
