Tonight, Roman D. attended the Air Force Academy Men’s Hockey Fight Cancer game—proudly sponsored by CommonSpirit Health—and it clearly left a mark.

Roman has lost an aunt to cancer, and his mom continues to fight with courage and grit. When he got home, he didn’t just carry gratitude in his heart—he turned it into action, creating a tribute poster to honor CommonSpirit and the care that stands with families like his.

This Valentine’s Day, we’re reminded that love isn’t just flowers and cards. It’s presence. It’s perseverance. It’s standing with one another in the hardest moments.

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate our community partners at Summit County Colorado Sheriff’s Office, who were honored for their transformative System-Wide Mental Assessment Response Team (SMART) program. In a community that once faced the highest per-capita su***de rate in the nation, SMART has reshaped the way behavioral health crises are met—bringing together law enforcement, a clinician, and a case manager to provide compassionate, immediate support.

Through powerful collaboration with organizations like CommonSpirit Health St. Anthony Summit Hospital and Building Hope, this first responder team is helping people de-escalate crises and access real, long-term care.

Across 10 recognized hospitals in the Mountain Region, our system earned an impressive 24 total specialty awards for 2026. Penrose St. Francis received a whopping third of those awards!
