We’re incredibly proud to celebrate our community partners at Summit County Colorado Sheriff’s Office, who were honored for their transformative System-Wide Mental Assessment Response Team (SMART) program. In a community that once faced the highest per-capita su***de rate in the nation, SMART has reshaped the way behavioral health crises are met—bringing together law enforcement, a clinician, and a case manager to provide compassionate, immediate support.

Through powerful collaboration with organizations like CommonSpirit Health St. Anthony Summit Hospital and Building Hope, this first responder team is helping people de-escalate crises and access real, long-term care.

Philanthropy in action! Watch the skies, Southwest Kansas! Last week, CommonSpirit St. Catherine Hospital – Garden City rolled out the red carpet (and helipad!) for the official launch and blessing of our Flight for Life helicopter base and crew. This game-changing addition means critical care is now just a flight away, reinforcing our promise to keep our community healthy and thriving.

We are proud to announce that several of our hospitals have achieved distinctions from Healthgrades, the nation's leading resource for hospital and physician search. Across 10 recognized hospitals in the Mountain Region, our system earned an impressive 24 total specialty awards for 2026. Penrose St. Francis received a whopping third of those awards!

Penrose Hospital is proud to receive numerous distinctions from Healthgrades! We're rated second in Colorado for Neurosciences and Stroke Care. We're celebrating 23 years in a row of treating sepsis and have earned 5-star ratings for heart attack care, cranial neurosurgery, colorectal surgery, and treatment of bowel obstruction.

These recognitions are a testament to the trust our community places in us and our caregivers' unwavering commitment to patient care.

Community partners in action! Mortenson held a fundraiser at Topgolf in Thornton, raising funds to benefit the St. Anthony North Hospital Employee Scholarship Program. Mortenson invited their trade partners who have been working for the past few years on the new expansion space at St. Anthony North Hospital. Altogether, they raised $15,000 for employee scholarships! A special thank you to James Scheiner and Bruce LePage from Mortenson for their continued support!

On behalf of Southwest Oncology, the Mercy Health Foundation is deeply grateful for the powerful partnership between the Plata County Sheriff's Department, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 8, and Sergeant Farrell Dodge and Deputy Tyler Wiseman. Together, they have made a generous donation that will directly impact the lives of cancer patients in their community.
