You can learn a movement and feel like you’ve got it. But that doesn’t mean your body will keep it. I see this all the time. Someone learns how to move better…. But they stay in the “easy” version of it. No load. No challenge. And then nothing changes long-term. Your body needs a reason to adapt. That’s what strength training actually is. Not just doing it right-but doing it in a way that challenges you enough to make it stick.
Learn it first. Then train it.

Most people think push-ups are about arm strength. A push-up is just a moving plank. If your rib cage isn’t stacked over your pelvis your shoulder blades don’t have a stable surface to move in. So what happens? You compensate through your lower back. Your neck gets involved. Or it just feels hard no matter what you do. But the issue isn’t strength. It’s organization. When your rib cage stays stacked and your blades can move on that surface….the push-up becomes available. Not forced. Not muscles through. Just there. If push-ups have never felt right for you, there’s usually a reason. .

I published something today that took me a long time to write.
