School lunches aren't always the best nutritional choices, so how can we make sure our kids are making good choices with foods at school?

If they're bringing their own lunch, talk to your kids about what they would like in their lunch boxes. Ask them what fruits and veggies they enjoy eating. Make it fun and something they'll enjoy.

If they are getting lunch at school, encourage them to get at least a fruit or veggie with their meal and not to spend all their money on sugary drinks and snacks. Remind them to drink water as well! This will wash away some of the sugar and food particles that can get stuck on and in between teeth.

Who else loves shark week?! 🦈🦈
In honor of shark week here are 10 facts about shark teeth:

1) Shark teeth don’t have roots, so they fall out easily while the shark is eating.
2) Sharks typically lose at least one tooth per week.
3) Shark teeth are arranged in conveyor belt rows and can be replaced within a day.
4) Most sharks have five rows of teeth; the bull shark has fifty rows of teeth.
5) Baby sharks (pups) are born with a complete set of teeth.
6) The coating of shark teeth is acid resistant and contains fluoride.
7) Sharks don’t get cavities.
8)The insides of both shark and human teeth contain a soft mineral known as dentin.
9) Shark teeth and human teeth are equally hard.
10) Some shark species have flattened teeth due to their diet of hard-shelled crabs and mollusks.

We get it — we love chocolate too! But is it good for you? 🍫

The darker the chocolate, the more benefits it can offer you. Dark chocolate has a variety of minerals and antioxidants that, when eaten in small servings, can boost cardiovascular health and improve brain function.

So what about milk chocolate? Milk chocolate has smaller percentages of cacao and has more sugar. We recommend dark chocolate since you'll get the most benefits from eating it. But whatever you choose, remember moderation is best, and don't forget to brush your teeth after! 🪥

We all know citrus fruits, like oranges can be a good source of Vitamin C, but the citric acid in citrus fruits can also do damage to your teeth. To avoid damage from eating citrus fruits and other acidic foods, be sure to brush your teeth at least 30 minutes after eating, as brushing right away can cause more harm than good to your teeth.

We can't deny it... we love sweets too! Don't like that fuzzy feeling on your teeth after eating sweets? We don't either because we know that is the beginning of plaque buildup on your teeth. Keep on enjoying those donuts and sweets, but don't forget to brush away the decay! 🍩

Did you know there are several types of spring produce that help give you a brighter, healthier smile? Asparagus is a good source of fiber, which helps to reduce plaque. Broccoli is a good source of vitamin C and K, which help to fight against infections like tooth decay. And strawberries have malic acid which is a natural bleaching agent that instantly brightens teeth enamel. 🦷
