Due to constant sitting in our culture, we lose range of motion. Tight quads contribute to knee pain. If you cannot get into this position your quads are too tight. You can put a thick pillow between your bottom and legs to make the stretch less intense. Be able to sit back comfortably but feel a good stretch and keep working at it until you don't need anything between for support.
