Running a small therapy practice is a little unique — I’m not selling coffee or a service where you can snap a pic and tag me!

Because of privacy (as it should be!), a lot of the meaningful work happens quietly, behind closed doors… which also means reviews and visibility can be a bit tricky (especially as a small business).

If you’ve ever found our work helpful and feel comfortable sharing, leaving a quick review or rating truly goes a long way in helping others find support 💛

No pressure at all — just a gentle nudge and big appreciation for this community.

The Challenges of Online Reviews in Therapy Practices

Therapy practices face several obstacles concerning online reviews, primarily due to privacy regulations like HIPAA. These laws prevent therapists from openly responding to negative or misleading feedback, which can deter clients from sharing their experiences since it may disclose their therapy involvement. As a result, this can skew ratings, often amplifying the opinions of a vocal minority with negative perspectives. Conversely, high ratings can lead to skepticism among potential clients. Therefore, online reviews may not accurately reflect the quality of a therapist's services.

At CNY Marriage & Family, we value all feedback—both positive and negative—and are always eager to connect with individuals. We are more than just an online rating; we are real people committed to supporting you on your mental wellness journey.

Are you a new graduate or an early-career clinician looking for supervision or case consultation- I'd love to connect!

I understand how valuable connecting with the right supervisor can be when you are starting out. My goal is to offer guidance that is both encouraging and practical as you grow in your clinical work.

I am an LMFT in private practice (licensed in New York) and have experience in nonprofits, hospitals, and agency settings.

Good Mood Food- ✨Glimmers! ✨ Glimmers are, effectively, the opposite of triggers.

Hot coffee that hits just right. Driving around with the windows down & your playlist up. Sun through the window for 3 seconds before a cloud ruins it (deep sigh for fool's spring).

In ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) we talk a lot about paying attention to the present moment. Glimmers are basically little reminders from your nervous system like, “hey… this moment is actually okay.”

They don’t cancel stress. They don’t fix everything. But noticing them helps our brain remember that good, safe, meaningful moments still exist alongside the hard stuff.

So consider this your official glimmer scavenger hunt today ~

Narcicism is a word thrown around alottttt- as with most things, it's a complicated, nuranced spectrum.

Understanding narcissism as a spectrum rather than a label helps us move away from oversimplified language and toward healthier conversations about boundaries, self-awareness, and growth.
