Spring reminds us that light never truly disappears 🌸

At Compass, we see that every day; in the lives, love, and legacies of those we serve. Even as a life comes to a close, the love, lessons, and memories continue to shine in the hearts left behind.

Lisa Middleton’s story is one of that enduring light. A hospice nurse who spent her life caring for others, Lisa chose hospice care for herself, surrounded by the same compassion she once gave so freely. Because of that care, her final days were filled with dignity, peace, and love.

Her light lives on, and so do the countless others we are honored to serve.

To celebrate, we recently hosted a special Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, an opportunity to recognize the individuals who generously give their time, energy, and compassion to support Compass. From sharing warm smiles to lending helping hands, your impact is felt in every corner of what we do.

✨Volunteer Spotlight: Vernetta Sherman

For 15 years, Vernetta has been a dedicated patient care volunteer, bringing compassion, comfort, and even a little laughter to those she serves. She was inspired to volunteer after witnessing the exceptional care her mother received.

“I love teasing, but in a way that it’s fun,” Vernetta shares. “I love to make people smile and laugh.”

Her kindness goes far beyond her time with patients. Vernetta forms genuine connections, and when a patient passes, she honors their life. “I love the patients, and I am saddened when they pass away. I try to attend their service if I am available.”

Her heart, humor, and unwavering dedication remind us how important human connection is in every moment of care. 💛 Thank you, Vernetta, for 15 years of making a difference.
