Have you ever wondered what "DPT" stands for behind many of our therapist's names? It stands for Doctor of Physical Therapy! Since 2015, those pursing a career as a physical therapist must first complete a bachelors degree before attending an accredited program to earn their Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT).

In addition to coursework in anatomy, exercise physiology and biomechanics, the DPT curriculum consists of neuroscience, pharmacology, pathology, and more!

Here's another fun fact! Did you know physical therapy was officially recognized as a profession during World War I! During the first world war, "reconstruction aides" were female civilians tasked with rehabilitating injured soldiers. The reconstruction aide profession evolved into what we now know as physical therapy!
