Gary T. Carbaugh, 61, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at his home. He was born on July 8, 1964, in Chambersburg, PA to the late Gary Hill and Betty Jane Carbaugh.

He was a graduate of James Buchanan High School and then went on to work for Service Tire Truck Centers, Dice’s Tire, and then was employed as a custodian at Stevens Elementary School at CASD. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, vacationing to Myrtle Beach, working on cars, hunting, and frequently lending a helping hand to his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Lisa; son Cody; daughter April; brothers Paul and Billy; brother-in-law Kevin Helman; aunt Laura Gelwicks (Husband Dave); aunt Tina (Carbaugh) Bracken (husband Jess); Ralph Carbaugh (wife Darlene); In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two uncles Paul and Joe Carbaugh.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Philip Roland Leclerc

Philip Roland Leclerc, 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on January 16, 2026, at Wellspan York Hospital. Born December 8, 1942, in Leominster, MA, he was the son of the late Roland and Irene Leclair Leclerc.

Early in his life, Philip owned his own restaurant. He was a manager of quality control for Ethan Allen Furniture and a woodworker by trade. In his later years he was employed as a bus driver for Lee County Florida School District, a job he enjoyed. Philip enjoyed saltwater fishing, and swimming at the YMCA in Chambersburg. He was a very handy person and was always busy with something.

Philip is survived by his wife of 31 years, Valerie K. Mangus Leclerc, whom he married on October 8, 1994. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Teresa Marie Robichaud Leclerc. Together they had five surviving children; Kevin Leclerc and Kathy Cranford, both of FL, Karen Wyman (husband Mike), Keith Leclerc, and Karl Leclerc (wife Theresa), all of NH. Also surviving are two stepchildren, Christi Buermann of FL, and Kelly Barnes of PA; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two siblings, Yvette Belletete (husband Peter) of AR, and David Leclerc (wife Jane) of MA.

Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.

Edward E. Pinske, Jr.

Edward E. Pinske, Jr., 76, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 12, 1949, in Eldora, IA, he was the son of the late Edward E. Pinske, Sr., and Sally Rae Dunn Pinske Hemric.

Edward was a graduate of the former Booneville High School in Booneville, NC. He earned an associate degree from Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston Salem, NC and later attended Akron University. Edward was employed as a nuclear engineer for most of his career with Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton, OH where he designed nuclear reactors for nuclear power plants. He also restored a 2100 steam locomotive in Hagerstown, MD; designed model trains for Right of Way Industry in Akron, OH; designed a wet blade system for Burch Wet Blade in North Wilkesboro, NC; and worked for Northwest Machine in Ronda, NC. He held a patent for his design of a nuclear reactor coolant system. During his career he traveled to many countries such as: Ireland, France, Italy, Korea, China, Japan, and all the states in the US but Alaska.

Edward was a loving and caring man with a great personality and never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Doris Baker Rosenberry Pinske, whom he married on April 12, 1988; two stepchildren, Angela M. Buterbaugh (Brian) of St. Thomas, PA, and Mitch T. Rosenberry of Chambersburg, PA; three grandchildren, Samantha N. Miranda (Aaron) of Shippensburg, PA, Brian R. Buterbaugh, Jr., of St. Thomas, PA, and Christopher M. Buterbaugh of Shippensburg, PA; one great-grandchild which he adored, Lucas A. Miranda; two sisters, Victoria Myers of Union Grove, NC, and Constance Miliam of Statesville, NC; nieces and nephews, Amy Nelson, Jason Myers, and James Collins of NC; and several cousins; and his very best friend who was like a brother to him, Hardin Bullin of Yadkinville, NC and his family. Aside from his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his sister, Sally Sue Adams, and his brother, Tommy Pinske.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 19, 2026, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook will officiate. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg, PA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mary Ann Lowans, 94, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at her home with her daughter Jennifer by her side.

Born June 3, 1931 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Harris and Caroline Hamil Johnston. Mary Ann was a graduate of McConnellsburg High School and of the Katharine Gibbs School in New York City while a resident of the famous Barbizon Hotel. As a Navy wife, she raised her young family by moving from place to place, including Toms River, New Jersey, San Diego, Norfolk, Virginia, and Guam. Navy retirement brought Mary Ann and her husband, Ray, and their children, back to their home state of Pennsylvania where they settled in Fayetteville. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzler and life-long animal lover.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Lowans, her daughters Carol Rae Lowans and Melissa Ann Horn, and one granddaughter Mary Ann Beck and her sister Mazie Smith. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer J. Lowans, her son-in-law David Horn, her grandson Jeremy Horn, and her granddaughter Emily Ann Martin, her grandson-in-law Kenneth Martin, and her great grandchildren Madison, Mason and Missy Ann.

In her honor, please consider donating to any of her favorite charities – the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, Alley Cat Allies or the Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue.

Betty J. Clugston, 86, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Shippensburg Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Born December 12, 1939, in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd K. and Floe Trace Robinson.

Betty was a 1957 graduate of CASHS. She was employed as a seamstress at the Stanley Co. in Chambersburg and spent many years making a home for her family. Later in life she worked as a cook at Menno Haven. In her free time, Betty enjoyed embroidery, sewing, cooking, canning and reading.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 67 years, Orville E. Clugston, whom she married on March 28, 1959; two children, Michael Clugston (wife Carol) of St. Thomas, and Patricia Clugston (Gary Verno, Jr.) of Chambersburg; one granddaughter, Brittney Clugston (Quentin Rowe); one great granddaughter, Mahelia Rowe; and two sisters, Nancy Johnson (husband Leroy) of OH; and Peggy Melius (husband Ronald) of Chambersburg. Aside from her parents, Betty was preceded in death by four siblings, Donald Ray Robinson, Delores Swanger, George Robinson, and Sarah Gochenauer.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 23, 2026, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.

Funeral service has been the traditional family occupation in our family since 1919, when my Grandfather Vernon opened our first funeral home in Pleasantville, Pennsylvania. In 1936, my Uncle Fred opened another firm in Dale Borough, just outside of Johnstown. Soon to follow would be my Uncle Louis and my father, Jack Sr., both owning and operating firms in Bedford County. Our third generation began with my brother, Jack Jr., who now owns and oversees the operation of three homes in Bedford County.
