Let’s talk about this!

For MOST women, consistent cl*toral stimulation is necessary for org*sm.

It’s a complex structure with over 8,000 nerve endings at the g***s alone, and even more internal branches that extend deeper around the v*ginal canal.

It’s literally built for pleasure.

So when women are told they “should” org*sm from p*netration alone?

That advice ignores basic anatomy

P*netration can absolutely feel good. It can create pressure and movement.

But without enough stimulation to the cl*toris, many women simply won’t reach org*sm.

On top of anatomy, org*sm also requires:
👉🏼 Adequate blood flow
👉🏼 Coordinated pelvic floor muscle contraction and release
👉🏼 A nervous system that feels safe enough to let go

Understanding how you’re wired changes everything.

And if s*x has felt confusing, painful, or just “meh” you’re not alone.

This is exactly what we’re here for 👏🏼

Pelvic floor physical therapy can support muscle coordination, reduce guarding, improve sensation, and address real barriers to pleasure.

We’re here for the awkward questions, the “wait… is this normal?” moments, and everything in between ❤️

Not all l**e is created equal!

From a pelvic floor perspective, lubrication directly impacts:

👉🏼 Tissue irritation
👉🏼 Friction
👉🏼 Muscle guarding
👉🏼 And how safe your nervous system feels during intimacy

When there isn’t enough glide, friction increases.

Friction can irritate the tissue, trigger the pelvic floor to tighten, and reinforce a subtle “this isn’t safe” message to your brain.

And once that guarding pattern starts?

It can stick around.

That’s why we’re team l**e around here.

What we tell patients in clinic:

✔️ If you’re dealing with pain, choose something with lasting glide.
✔️ Avoid warming, tingling, or flavored l**es if you’re sensitive.
✔️ Reapply. More than you think you need.
✔️ Using l**e does NOT mean something is wrong with you.

Hormones, stress, birth control, postpartum changes, perimenopause, medications, and nervous system tension can all impact natural lubrication.

Your body is not broken. It’s responsive.

If you’re dealing with pain with s*x, dryness, or just feel confused about what to use, we talk about this stuff all the time in clinic.

3 out of 4 women experience pain with s*x at some point in their lives.

And yet, the advice so many women are given is still things like
❌“just relax,”
❌“have a glass of wine,”
❌ or “it’s normal to feel some pain.”

That advice is not only unhelpful, it’s dismissive.

So this month, we’re talking about why that advice misses the mark.

Pain with s*x is rarely about desire, effort, or mindset. What we see again and again in pelvic floor physical therapy is that it’s often about how the muscles are actually functioning.

The pelvic floor is meant to be responsive. It should be able to contract when you need support and fully relax when it’s safe.

But when someone has spent months or years pushing through stress, discomfort, or pain, that system can get stuck in a protective mode.

So instead of softening, the pelvic floor stays “on.”

That’s why pe*******on can feel uncomfortable or painful even when desire is there and everything else seems “fine.”

This month, we’re opening up the conversation around pain with seggs, the pelvic floor, and what real support actually looks like.

If this resonates, stick with us.

Follow along and drop a 🙌🏼 in the comments if you’re ready to reclaim your pleasure!

Let’s get this straight 👇🏼

Kegels aren’t inherently bad.

They are just not the answer for everyone.

For many people, exercises that focus on:
✔️ breathing and pressure control
✔️ core + pelvic floor coordination
✔️movement-based strength
✔️relaxation before loading

are far more effective than isolated squeezes.

That’s why pelvic floor care isn’t one-size-fits-all.

At Revelle, we help you figure out what your pelvic floor actually needs, not just what you’ve been told to do.

If you’re looking for more support in your pelvic floor journey and wondering what your body needs to feel better 👇🏼

Here’s where I’d begin 👇🏼

First, I’d stop assuming kegels are the answer.

They’re not always helpful, and for a lot of women, they can actually make things worse.

Next, I’d pay attention to my body during everyday moments.

➡️ Do I feel pressure when I stand up?
➡️ Leak when I run or laugh?
➡️ Hold my breath when I move or lift?
➡️ Clench my jaw, glutes, or pelvic floor without realizing it?

Those small patterns matter more than you think.

They’re often the first clues that your pelvic floor isn’t coordinating the way it should.

Here’s what the pelvic floor is actually meant to do:
support your organs, respond to pressure, and coordinate with your breath and core as you move.

It needs to be able to both engage and fully relax.

So the best first steps aren’t about doing more. They’re about creating better awareness and coordination.

We just published a new blog breaking down what the pelvic floor is and why it matters more than you think.

💫 Comment “PELVIC FLOOR” and we’ll send it over!

✨PT Spotlight✨ Kaitlin!

Kaitlin brings a really special blend of orthopedic training and a holistic, lifestyle-forward lens to pelvic floor care.

She started her career with a strong foundation in orthopedics, then expanded her work to pelvic health because she saw firsthand how interconnected the body really is.

What makes Kaitlin stand out isn’t just her certifications (though, she has plenty). It’s the way she connects with her patients.

She meets women exactly where they are, whether that’s navigating pelvic pain, moving through pregnancy, healing postpartum, or simply wanting to feel stronger and more supported in their bodies.

She listens. She sees the full picture. She makes the process feel less overwhelming and a lot more empowering.

Starting pelvic floor physical therapy for the first time?

We know pelvic floor PT can bring up a LOT of fears and uncertainty.

That’s why one of our biggest priorities is making sure you feel safe, supported, and fully in control every step of the way.

Outside of the cozy space and calming environment we create (we really do love our Revelle clinics 😍), we also:

✨ Explain everything before touching your body
✨ Make sure you’re fully covered with a sheet during internal exams
✨ Remind you that you can say no or pause at any time
✨ Check in often and move at your pace
✨ Never use fear or shame as motivation
✨ Create a plan with you, not for you

Most of our patients are surprised by how different their visits feel, more like hanging out with a friend they trust than a typical clinical appointment.

Like… who knew you could actually look forward to pelvic floor PT? 😉

Come book an appointment and see for yourself! 💕

Our Story

The Revelle “love story” began 5 years ago when Kelley and her husband moved in next door. Our golden retrievers excitedly greeted one another in the front yard and we quickly found out we had an eerie amount of things in common. Not only were we both physical therapists, but we also shared similar values, hopes, dreams and a strong sense of faith. A friendship quickly blossomed. Over the next few years, this friendship became a source of strength and support through some of life’s most significant milestones.

One night, over a glass of wine and our eyes glued to our baby monitors, we began to discuss the difficulties of balancing mom-life, work, traveling husbands, and raising toddlers. The conversation got deeper and we began to confess our post-partum struggles and how they had initially affected our marriage, friendships and self-worth. We both expressed our passion for wanting to educate other women that these common post-partum issues are actually treatable and women should not accept them as normal. However, we knew how hard it was to find the time to seek self-care. This was the essential element that inspired us to develop Revelle Physical Therapy.

Revelle is designed to provide women with easy access to one-on-one physical therapy in the comfort of their own home. Our goal is to help make your self-care a priority.
