Today, our Marketing and Outreach Coordinator, Lisa, spent time in Aurora serving with Feed My Starving Children, an organization committed to ending world hunger.

Surrounded by flags representing the many countries that will receive these meals, the moment served as a powerful reminder that impact does not stop at city lines. It stretches across communities, across cultures, and across the world.

At Rooted Pathways, we believe service is an extension of who we are. Whether supporting individuals in our office or contributing to efforts that nourish families globally, we remain rooted in compassion, dignity, and community care.

As this month continues, we reaffirm our commitment to compassionate, thoughtful care and to creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and valued. Honoring the past means continuing the work with humility, care, and purpose.

🌱 Trauma does not always come from one moment.
Sometimes it builds slowly. Quietly. In layers.

Complex trauma can look like chronic self doubt, difficulty trusting others, emotional overwhelm, people pleasing, or feeling stuck in patterns you cannot quite explain. It often traces back to repeated experiences where safety, stability, or support were inconsistent.

At Rooted Pathways, Maritza supports adolescents, adults, and families navigating layered trauma with care that is trauma informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in EMDR and evidence based approaches.

When trauma is layered, healing can be layered too.
And you do not have to walk that path alone. 🤍

The Emotional Thaw 🌤️

After months of gray skies and freezing temps, we finally get a stretch of sunshine and 60s in Champaign.

But here’s something we see often in session:
When the weather warms up, emotions can too.

Winter has a way of numbing things out. We push through. We stay busy. We survive.
Then the sun comes out… and suddenly we feel everything.

If you’ve noticed your mood shifting, old feelings resurfacing, or a mix of relief and restlessness this week, you’re not alone. Emotional thaw is real.

Be gentle with yourself as things soften and surface. Growth does not always feel calm. Sometimes it feels like change.
