🌿 Investing in Growth and Cultural Awareness 🌿

This Friday, our Rooted Pathways therapists Carolina and Jessica will be attending the Play Therapy for Black Children Conference at Eastern Illinois University. The conference, “Black Kids Matter: Play Therapy to Empower Black Children Across the Lifespan,” focuses on the unique experiences of Black children and families through the lens of play therapy.

This training explores how play can be a bridge for connection, trust, and healing. It highlights the importance of cultural representation in therapy and the powerful role play holds in helping children express, process, and grow in safe and supportive ways.

At Rooted Pathways Counseling & Consulting, we believe in meeting each child and family where they are, with care that honors their story, culture, and individual strengths. 📖 Rooted Reads Reflection 📖

As we wrap up this month’s Rooted Reads book, The Emotional Lives of Teenagers by Dr. Lisa Damour, we are reminded that adolescence is a time of deep emotional growth, not emotional instability. Teens are learning to navigate complex feelings, find their voice, and build resilience, and they need understanding, patience, and support along the way.

As we turn the page to a new month, let’s take a moment to pause, to breathe before the busyness of the holiday season begins. November reminds us to slow down, reflect, and stay grounded in gratitude. 🌿

It is also a busy and exciting month here at Rooted Pathways Counseling & Consulting! While we continue to provide compassionate care and support to our clients, some of our therapists will be taking part in specialized Play Therapy training for Black children.
