Postpartum is no joke. I'm 10 months in with my own and I'm still adjusting alot.

But supporting this mama and her 2 week old baby helps me see just how far I have come!

2023 is getting closer to the end and I'm supporting my last family of the year. What a blessing this year has been being able to continue supporting growing families while mine grew by one more too!

Support a great resource for women in the Champaign-Urbana community during World Breastfeeding Week!! 💜

August is National Breastfeeding Month *and* this week is World Breastfeeding Week! In honor of both events, the CUPHD Breastfeeding Peer Counselor program is holding its 2nd annual breastfeeding supplies donation drive. Donated items go to parents enrolled in the WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor program.

Items must be new and sealed in their original packaging. Items needed include: nursing pads, pillows, and covers; breast milk storage bags; electric or manual breast pumps and accessories; self-care items (lotions, hand sanitizers, makeup remover wipes, etc.).

Doulas listen. We listen to your concerns. We listen to the quiver of your cry. We listen to the strength of your advocacy. We listen to the heart in your voice.

We do not judge! We offer guidance and advice when asked. We provide support when needed. We have a shoulder to lean on and arms to wrap around for a hug. We reassure in times of doubt. We encourage alot. We hold space. Doulas care.

💡What do you wish someone told you about the first few weeks with your baby?

My passion for doula work came from when I was a little girl. I use to watch "A Baby Story" on TLC every morning. It sparked my desire to want to deliver babies.

But one day I learned about "doulas" and after attending so many births, I realized I didn't really want to deliver babies. I wanted to support the women having the babies!

After having my first baby of my own, my desire narrowed even further and I knew I not only wanted to, but needed to be there to support mamas during their postpartum weeks.

And I am so in love with this job. I love being there to help a mama feel more comfortable in providing care for her new baby, for helping her get some well needed few hours of sleep, for helping around the house so she feels less anxious about the tasks to be done, for providing meals because she can't find the time to feed herself, and so much more. I FREAKING LOVE IT!!
