Meet Ashley, one of our caregivers at Carriage Crossing.
Ashley has been with Carriage Crossing for 5 years! Today marks her 5 year anniversary. Her role involves providing assistance with daily activities such as bathing and dressing. When she's not providing direct care her focus is providing companionship and support to residents.
When asked why she chose to work in senior living, Ashley shared:
"I chose to work in senior living because growing up I was very close to my grandmother. She played a huge role in raising me. And in her final year I enjoyed taking care of her. When she passed away I knew she was happy with the love and care I gave her. But it made mw think of the elderly who don't have someone to do that for them. That's when I realized what I wanted to do."
Throughout her time here, Ashley says she has had so many meaningful moments that she can't just pick one. She says "all the moments started with developing trust, bonds, and relationships with my residents... I am blessed to maintain relationships with their families, even after they no longer live with us. Essentially making them lifelong friends to me and my family."
For families navigating care decisions, Ashley shares:
"Trust the process and visit your loved one as much as possible. We have a great, fun time here at Carriage Crossing and provide safe care to our residents, however nothing we do or give can replace the love of family."
At the heart of her work, Ashley believes her role is really about "providing residents with great care as I would give my own mother or grandmother and giving the same abundance of love on a daily basis."
