Good morning friends and families! For those of you following our relentless plight, that started one year ago, for our residents rights to bring back "Happy Hour" without our community or others like us, requiring a liquor license, WE DID IT! The Bill passed the Senate in March and passed the House April 13th! Governor Walz officially signed the Bill into Law yesterday, April 21, 2026! Thank you, LeadingAge Minnesota and Senator John Hoffman also Representative Danny Nadeau taking us on a backing our plight and Bill! Special Thank you to our very courageous resident, Anita LeBrun for being the face of the Bill across Minnesota and the Nation! This New Law HF2511 officially goes into effect on 8/1/26 so mark your calendars!

Anita recently testified in front of both the Senate and the House committees, advocating for changes to Minnesota liquor laws to allow happy hours in assisted living communities. Following her testimony last week, she quickly became a viral sensation across the internet—capturing hearts and sparking important conversations far beyond our community.

At our community, we believe this topic matters because residents deserve the same opportunities for social connection, celebration, and personal choice that they’ve always had. Small moments—like gathering for a happy hour—can have a big impact on overall well-being and sense of community.
