Affinity Medwaste Medical Sharps Disposal Home Self Injectors

Currently in Maricopa County there is very limited resources for home sharps disposal.

As of this writing January 2021, the Gilbert Police Department is the only place to take your used sharps for disposal. Unfortunately, this has created a huge problem not only for those at home wanting to safely dispose of their used needles, but also for a safe environment at home. Used needles and syringes should be place in a regulated sharps container, immediately after use. These containers are leak proof and have a snap type locking cover and can be secured. Leaving used needles out in a box or other unsecured container is a bad idea. Used detergent bottles are the best home sharps container, keep the lid tight and do not fill more than ¾ full. Why can’t needles/syringes be thrown in the trash? Although people who generate needles within the household are exempt from Arizona’s biohazardous medical waste regulatory requirements, sharps users are strongly encouraged to safely and properly dispose of the sharps.
