For many families, one of the hardest moments in the day is when a child hears the word “no.”
A denied request, ending a preferred activity, or transitioning to something new can quickly turn into a meltdown that leaves everyone feeling overwhelmed.
In this Guided Growth session, we’ll unpack why these reactions happen and what parents can do in the moment to reduce escalation while still holding clear and healthy boundaries.
You’ll learn practical strategies grounded in the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) that help children build tolerance for limits, flexibility with transitions, and emotional regulation over time.
This session is designed to give families real tools they can use immediately, including simple scripts, clear do’s and don’ts, and strategies that reduce daily power struggles.
Families will walk away with:
• An understanding of why “no” can feel unsafe or overwhelming for some children
• Strategies for setting limits without triggering explosive reactions
• Ways to teach tolerance to denied access while avoiding power struggles
• Language swaps that help reduce escalation during difficult moments
• Common mistakes adults make that accidentally make meltdowns worse

Does your child ever melt down when they hear the word “no”?

You’re not alone.

For many families, the hardest part of the day isn’t homework, bedtime, or getting out the door…
It’s when a child is told “no,” “not right now,” or “it’s time to stop.”

Suddenly emotions explode.
Tears. Yelling. Throwing things. Total shutdown.

And as parents, we’re left wondering:

• Did I handle that right?
• Should I have said it differently?
• Am I making this worse without realizing it?

In our April Guided Growth Webinar, we’re diving into one of the most common struggles families face:

“When Your Child Melts Down Over ‘No’.”

You’ll learn:

✔ Why “no” can feel unsafe or overwhelming for some kids
✔ How to set limits without triggering an explosion
✔ What to say instead of “no” that reduces escalation
✔ How to build tolerance to denied access without power struggles

Families will leave with scripts, strategies, and clear do/don’t rules you can start using the same day.

Because boundaries matter but so does helping our kids learn how to handle them.

Had the best time at the SAFE (Sensory Awareness Family Event) hosted by the Gilbert Police & Fire Department 💛💙♥️🖤

Events like this remind us how powerful community support can be for families navigating sensory needs. We loved reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new ones along the way.
