If you’ve ever been curious about fire cupping vs silicone or plastic cups, this is the post for you 🔥⚗️.
Boring answer: fire is simply a means of creating suction. Before there were manual pumps to create suction, smooth glass cups or jars were used to perform this therapy.
I coat the glass cups in rubbing alcohol, then light a drenched cotton ball and heat the cup. When the cup is applied to the skin, a seal is created, and a vacuum occurs when all of the oxygen is burned.
Why would I use them if they basically perform the same function as the manual pump cups? 🤔.
Some of the glass cups have a wide diameter, so I can cover more surface area. The back in particular loves these bigger cups.
They’re also very smooth and glide comfortably over the skin, so I prefer these when I move them around.
Depending on how they’re applied, they can feel exactly the same as any other cup, or totally different. In this case, I was using a more aggressive amount of vacuum pressure to get reverse deep tissue effect since this client had a rib issue close to the spine.
The cups do not feel hot when applied properly. In fact, they usually feel cold soft a split second since the glass stays cool in my air conditioned office.
I think that covers most of the questions I get regarding fire cupping but if you have any others, please leave them in the comments! And if you’re interested in experiencing this treatment for yourself, use the book button in my bio.
