“While some insist pastors should not speak about political matters, Governor Beshear’s appeal to faith confirms what many pastors have said for years—that many cultural and social debates are, at their core, moral and spiritual issues. When faith is invoked to justify a moral position, Christians should carefully examine what kind of faith is being described.”
“Governor Beshear is right about one thing: much of Christianity can be summarized in the Golden Rule. Jesus did say the Law and the Prophets hang on two commandments—love God and love your neighbor. But the Lord knew human nature well enough to understand that we would be tempted to redefine love according to personal preference or cultural pressure.” -Author and Pastor, Bob Russell

Whenever I’m talking to someone who has serious doubts about the Bible (including young people raised in church and in a solid Christian home), I often ask them what, in particular, is the most difficult thing for them to believe in the Bible. More often than not, they will point to Genesis 7-8, the account of Noah, the Ark, and the Flood. I can certainly understand why, because the sheer magnitude of such an event is SO extraordinary, it is tempting to dismiss the whole account as nothing more than a “fairy tale.” However, the evidence from geology and the fossil record bear testimony to the Flood as a real, global event in earth’s history. Some of the most fascinating research related to this topic has taken place at Grand Canyon. With that in mind, I think that you will really enjoy the following playlist from "Is Genesis History?", which you will find at the link in the comments below.

“Trying to change someone’s mind without addressing their underlying worldview is like trying to cure a disease by treating only the symptoms. You might feel better in the moment, but no lasting change will occur. The same is true in the life of a Christian—if we don’t confront challenges at the worldview level, we’ll make little to no progress.”
“Francis Schaeffer recognized this mistake when he wrote: ‘The basic problem of the Christians in this country in the last eighty years or so, in regard to society and in regard to government, is that they have seen things in bits and pieces instead of totals…They have very gradually become disturbed over permissiveness, po*******hy, the public schools, the breakdown of the family, and finally abortion. But they have not seen this as a totality…due to a shift in world view—that is, through a fundamental change in the overall way people think and view the world and life as a whole.’”

“What we must understand is that these competing worldviews don’t just result in personal differences—they shape our entire culture, from morality to education, from law to government. And if our students don’t know how to identify and respond to false worldviews, they’ll be swept up in them.”
“That’s why parents and leaders must make worldview training a priority. If we want to raise a generation that stands strong in truth, we must equip them with the required knowledge for every young Christian living in today’s culture.”
“At this year’s Reality Student Apologetics Conference, we’ll do exactly that. We’ll help students connect the dots between the false ideas they encounter and the worldviews that drive them. When they understand the root, they’ll know how to stand firm—and even help change minds.”

At this time, progressive Christians and even unbelievers are trying to leverage Jesus in support of their cause. In his article titled, "The Legend of the Social Justice Jesus," Greg Koukl of Stand to Reason says the following: “I want to tell you a story of an ancient sage who changed the world. This wise man fought for justice, championing the cause of the poor and the oppressed. He rejected organized religion, showing tolerance—not judgment—for the outcast and the socially marginalized.”
“…That is the story, in sum. It’s a noble tale, to be sure. But it’s a falsehood, a fiction, an urban legend. Though the story is parroted like a mantra by multitudes—even echoed reflexively by otherwise sound spiritual leaders who ought to know better—no such Jesus ever existed. Rather, taken as a whole, this version of Jesus is just another example of another Jesus bringing another gospel like the ones the apostle Paul anathematized [condemned] to the Galatians.”
“The remaking of the Jewish Messiah from Nazareth into a progressive advocate of social justice is just the latest example of the tendency people have to fashion Christ in their own social/spiritual/political image.”

Suppose someone said to you, “How can Christians say we have free will to choose God when we’re threatened with Hell if we don’t choose God?” In this short video, Greg Koul and Amy Hall of Stand to Reason do a great job of responding to this challenge. On a similar note, people will often falsely claim that God is basically saying, “Love me or else.” This is yet another misrepresentation of the situation. Instead, a more accurate description of the circumstances would be as follows: You and I are rebels against a Sovereign King and His Kingdom. Even though each one of us deserves to face His justice for our crimes against Him, He has graciously offered to pardon us and has even provided the means by which to do so. It is now up to each person to decide whether to receive His offer of pardon and forgiveness, or to reject it.

Have you ever heard the comment, “Jesus never said anything about gay people or gay marriage”? That is not true. There are at least two reasons why that argument fails. For one thing, notice that Jesus never said anything about bullying, r*pe, slavery, or spousal-abuse. Are we supposed to assume that His silence on such matters means that He would approve of any of those things? Of course not. Secondly, Jesus actually DID have something to say about this topic. It’s important to keep in mind that the words of Jesus are not just the “red letters” in the Bible. All of scripture is God-breathed. Jesus said and proved that He was God in human flesh. Therefore, since Jesus IS God, He inspired all scripture. In both the OT and the NT, He has made it clear that s*x between people of the same s*x is wrong. Furthermore, He has also made it clear that s*x between people of the OPPOSITE s*x is wrong if they are not married to each other. (see Gen. 18:16 through 19:29, Ex. 20:14, Lev. 18:22, Lev. 20:13, Deut. 5:18, Prov. 5:1-23, Prov. 6:20-35, Rom. 1:18-32, I Cor. 6:9-10, I Cor. 6:15-20, 1 Thess. 4:3-5, I Tim. 1:8-11, Heb. 13:4, II Peter 2:6-8).
(Re: more “direct” quotes from Jesus in the NT). In Matt. 5:27-28, Matt. 15:19, Mark 7:20-23, and Luke 18:18-20, Jesus condemned adultery between people of the opposite s*x, so we have no good reason to think that he would ever approve of s*x between people of the same s*x. Furthermore, when it comes to defining marriage, in Matthew 19:4-6 and Mark 10:6-9, Jesus specifically endorses God’s design for marriage as one man and one woman. So, as you can see, Jesus did, in fact, have a lot to say about this topic.
In the following short video, Christopher Yuan (speaking from experience as a former gay) and host Frank Turek cover some of these same points. You will find a link to the video in the comments below.

This is an excellent, thought-provoking commentary by Pastor Josh Howerton re: the ICE shooting in Minneapolis. Of particular note is that he exposes and explains the worldview that drives this and similar events in our culture that always result in division, chaos, confusion, and a misguided hatred and resentment toward law enforcement.
Even though the subtitle to this podcast is "How Christians Should Respond," I would hope that everyone who sees this post would take a few minutes to watch and listen. This particular topic begins at 1:14:30, and I would encourage you to listen all the way to the end. Also, because this is SO important, please be sure to share this with others. As always, a great response from Cliffe K. to the question about God and the problem of evil and suffering. Also, I would like to add the following: 1) If there is no God, then every form of suffering in the world (warfare, famine, natural disasters, murder, genocide, disease, death, etc.), ALL of that is nothing more than "natural selection." In other words, all of it is simply nature's way of "weeding out" that which is unfit for survival. If that were the case, then there is no such thing as "evil," nor can we say that death is "bad”; in this view, death is "good" because it eliminates the weak and is the very process that supposedly allowed us to "evolve."
2) When the unbeliever raises this question, they are essentially saying, even if there IS a God, if He has the power to stop such evil, then why doesn't He do so? But as I always point out to the unbeliever, I've noticed that God's critics are always insisting that He only remove the evil in this world that offends them. That is, they expect God to overlook and ignore the various forms of evil that they enjoy, approve of, promote, take pride in, and participate in. However, it doesn't work that way. God is holy, and when His final judgment falls, He is NOT going to judge evil on our terms, according to our arbitrary standards. Rather, this God who is absolutely holy and just will do so on His terms. As someone has said, "If God answered your request to 'remove all evil by midnight tonight,' where would you be at 12:01?"

It's important to love God and love people, but what's even more important is that we begin with a proper understanding and definition of "love." This includes understanding the difference between God's definition of love and the world's definition of love because they are not the same thing. If we're going to love someone in a genuine manner according to God's definition, it means that we should want for that person what God wants for them. The problem is that genuine love is on a collision course with the world's definition of love which says, "If you really love me, you should want for me all of the things that I want for myself."
A person who holds to that definition of love expects you to agree with, affirm, and approve of everything that they say and do. They expect you to never say or do anything that would disagree with them, correct them, upset them, or offend them. But just a moment's reflection on this should tell us that the world’s definition of love not only shows a great deal of immaturity, it is totally unrealistic.
Be sure to take the next 2 minutes to listen as Frank Turek explains why genuine love does not require approval. You will find a link to the video in the comments below.

Chances are, you will be meeting up with friends, family members and loved ones over the holidays. During such gatherings, it’s not unusual to find that there is someone present who has walked away from Christianity (“deconstructed”). But whether you are talking to someone who has given up on Christianity, or whether it’s someone who feels that they have good reasons for not becoming a Christian in the first place, Greg Koukl and Amy Hall of Stand to Reason offer some great advice in this podcast to help you have a great, productive conversation with that friend or loved one.
Be sure to listen to AND share this excellent podcast, which you will find in the link I’ve provided in the comments.

“If there exists a supernatural Being capable of bringing all space, time and matter into existence from nothing, such a Being could certainly accomplish the virgin conception of Jesus, the Resurrection of Christ, or any of the other ‘lesser’ miracles described on the pages of the New Testament. In addition, there is no historically, textually or philosophically necessary reason to reject the claims of the New Testament authors. If you’re a Christian this Christmas season, celebrate the birth of Jesus with confidence and certainty. The virgin conception is not a fanciful, fairy tale. It is a true story. In fact, there are five good reasons to trust that the story of Christmas is factual, reliable and true.” -J. Warner Wallace
In the following article, J. W. Wallace explains each of the five reasons why you can trust the birth narratives recorded for us by Luke and Matthew in their gospels. You will find a link to the article in the comments below.
