exercise and sport scientist Wesley Cole is a football fan inside and outside his research.

Cole studies football players' brain health. His recent study examined the length of players' careers and their positions on the field. His research team found that career length and positions aren't great measurements for brain health on their own.

"This study encourages a shift toward directly measuring actual concussion history instead of relying on assumptions that certain players are at higher risk of negative outcomes than others," said Cole.
