February is Kids ENT Health Month, an opportunity to highlight the importance of early recognition and coordinated care for pediatric ear, nose, and throat conditions.

Pediatric otolaryngologists work closely with primary care providers, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and other specialists to support hearing, breathing, swallowing, speech, and sleep during critical stages of child development. Early identification and appropriate referral can play a meaningful role in long-term health and developmental outcomes.

Margaret "Meg" Dillon, AuD, PhD, was an invited international guest on a Dutch-language audiology podcast produced for clinicians in Belgium and the Netherlands.
The episode focuses on cochlear implantation for patients with single-sided deafness, a timely topic since as of January 2026 these cases are now covered by the national health insurance in Belgium and the Netherlands!

We’re proud to see UNC expertise contributing to important international conversations in hearing health.

Thank you to our international colleagues for the invitation and thoughtful discussion!
