More than 300 nurse leaders from across UNC Health came together for a powerful day focused on strategy, innovation, and the future of nursing leadership. Our first ever System Nursing Leader Symposium, led by Lorie Rhine and Carla Jones, featured an inspiring keynote from Jeff Doucette, Chief Nursing Officer at Press Ganey, who led the discussion on teammate engagement, safety culture, work life effectiveness, and resilience. Meaningful conversations continued with our System Nursing Strategic Plan, culture shifts, Laudio engagement, and immersive technology integration.

The Biannual Structural Heart Patient Reunion is a lunch meeting being held in Spring 2026 for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) and MitraClip patients. Congratulations to Gerald Ulmer, an NA in the Flex Pool, for his exceptional dedication and commitment to ensuring 4 West continued to run smoothly. Gerald went above and beyond as he made multiple trips to various departments to gather supplies and equipment all while completing his NA duties on the unit. His practice approach and willingness to support the team exemplify our organizational goal of It Starts with Me.

His efforts ensured the nursing staff on 4 West had everything needed to provide excellent Carolina Care to our patients.
