Hand-Foot-Mouth disease...what you need to know
✋. 🦶. 👅.
✋Caused by a virus
🦶 Red sores on the hands, feet, and in the mouth. Although they can appear anywhere!
👅 Most common in kids in daycare or School settings but very contagious and anyone can contract this virus.
✋ Treatment is supportive with over-the-counter pain=medicines and aggressive fluid rehydration.
❌❌ Avoid topical numbing agents. These come with clinically significant risks and there isn't sufficient evidence to support and benefit ❌❌
🦶 Resolution in approximately 1 to 2 weeks.
👅 Avoid sharing drinks and food. Wash hands frequently!
✋ Common to have peeling of the skin and nails after resolution.
