Behind the Scenes: Resident Cadaver Lab Teaching

This weekend, I had the opportunity to teach at a cadaver lab for residents from UNC, Duke, and Wake Forest.

Using pre dyed fillers, we directly correlated rheology with real anatomy through cadaver dissection, seeing how these products behave in tissue.

Residents refined technique with both cannulas and needles, focusing on when and why each approach matters. They also spent time on flaps and grafts used in skin cancer reconstruction.

Huge kudos to Dr. Neal Goldman, who established this course years ago. These types of hands-on trainings are crucial in shaping the next generation of providers!

Before + after a combination approach✨ For this patient, I incorporated HA fillers, Sculptra, neuromodulators, and a series of three Sofwave treatments to the area around the mouth.

With these treatments working together we were able to improve lines and wrinkles, restore facial support, and enhance overall skin quality!

Thrilled with these results that feel more balanced and naturally refreshed.

So excited to share this result!🎉 Early intervention makes such a meaningful difference in how a scar heals. For this patient, I used a neuromodulator around a fresh Mohs surgical site to help reduce tension in the area. By limiting the pull on the area, we can support the skin in the healing process ultimately leading to a smoother appearing scar. This is just six weeks after a single neuromodulator treatment with no lasers!

Scars can vary widely in how they look and behave, which is why treatment is always tailored to the individual. This is such a great example of how early care can set the stage for a beautiful outcome!

In addition to meeting the requirements to be selected as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, Castle Connolly reviews additional qualifications, including research and academic contributions, volunteer work, training, and innovations in the specialty.

Poikiloderma develops from long term sun damage that affects both the blood vessels and pigment producing cells within the skin. Over time, ultraviolet exposure leads to dilation of superficial vessels, uneven pigmentation, and gradual thinning of the skin.

By improving redness in the area we can achieve a more even skin tone to the neck and chest, greatly reducing the appearance of Poikiloderma.
