We're proud to announce that Atlantic Prosthetics & Orthotics is now partnering with the Department of Veterans Affairs in North Carolina to provide comprehensive prosthetic care to our nation's veterans!
This partnership means expanded access to quality prosthetic services, cutting-edge technology, and compassionate care for those who have served our country.

We asked our patient, Mr. Rogers, about his prosthetic journey. He found that after 57 years of prosthetic wear he prefers a sleeve and suction suspension method. He also emphasized the importance of checking your skin daily.

Derek “Primo” Frankena recently celebrated 30 years with Atlantic P&O. He began as a technician in October 1997, back when the company was known as Advanced Prosthetics & Orthotics, and has held nearly every role the company has to offer.

Today, Derek continues to serve as a practitioner, providing prosthetic and orthotic devices that help people move and achieve their goals. We sincerely thank him for three decades of dedication and service to thousands of patients.

Fall is Finally Here – Let’s Prevent Falls Together!

Atlantic P&O wants to remind our patients of simple ways to lower fall risk and stay safe this season:
- Use handrails – Install sturdy handrails on all steps and ramps.
- Remove hazards – Keep floors free of cords, spills, and clutter.
- Use assistive devices correctly – Make sure canes, walkers, and prosthetics are fitted and in good condition.
- Stay active – Regular movement improves balance and strength.
- Wear proper footwear – Choose supportive, comfortable shoes with non-slip soles.
- Practice safe transfers – Learn safe ways to move in and out of bed, wheelchairs, or shower chairs.
- Know recovery techniques – Ask your therapist how to safely get up if you do fall.

Come on, this is epic! Landon recently received a new below-elbow prosthesis with sport attachments. This design combines flexibility with security so he can get into the weight room to build some strength. We even brought some weights into the office and worked up a sweat!

Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of hosting Proteor for an incredible prosthetic foot trial clinic!

Patients had the opportunity to test a variety of advanced prosthetic feet and find the one that best fits their lifestyle. Patients were able to walk up and down slopes, uneven terrain and stairs to compare how each foot reacts. We always provide our guidance and expertise when selecting a foot, but at the end of the day, it's you, the patient, who is using the prosthesis. We love being able to provide comprehensive care that is unique to your needs.

Proteor generously provided a delicious catered breakfast and lunch, making the day even more enjoyable. Attendees connected with fellow amputees, shared experiences, and celebrated with great food and groovy music. We held a raffle for exclusive APO coffee mugs, which was a big hit. It was also, our very own, Tolson Jeffreys' birthday! We had an excellent day celebrating and changing lives.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and made the day such a success!
