Join us tomorrow (12/2/2025) for a FREE presentation for brain injury survivors, caregivers, and family members! Hosted via Zoom at 10:00am EDT. For questions call 803-731-9823 or e-mail Mike at michael@biaofsc.com
After a brain injury, survivors initially experience an influx of love and support from family, friends, and co-workers. Once a brain injury survivor is medically stable, less support is seen from co-workers, acquaintances, and friends.
Over time, more distance commonly grows between a survivor and his/her partner, children, co-workers, and friends. This distance occurs due to the personality, cognitive, communication, and mental health changes after a brain injury.
This presentation will provide evidence for the emotional, cognitive, and personality changes that occur after brain injury in order to illuminate understanding on the importance of implementing strategies to manage the cause of the relationship strain.
Evidence based strategies to improve current and build new relationships will be provided. Participants will leave with a toolkit of strategies for mitigating relationship strain and allow for gaining supportive and collaborative relationships.
