March is Brain Injury Awareness Month!

Yesterday, BIASC staff and volunteers visited SC state legislators in Columbia for Brain Injury Awareness Month! We handed out wildflower seed packets featuring our logo and message: "Growing a better future through brain injury prevention, research, and advocacy." Survivors and advocates met with reps and senators to spotlight the needs of South Carolinians living with brain injury and push for better programs and services. 🌱

Big shoutout to our incredible staff for pouring heart and care into assembling these special Every Story Matters Creative Writing Workshop kits! 💙🖊️

Each kit is packed with everything participants need to express their stories: pens, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, composition journals, note cards, and more — plus an exclusive workbook thoughtfully created by our amazing workshop facilitator, award-winning author, and brain injury survivor Cinelle Barnes.

Her lived experience brings such compassion and power to this program for brain injury survivors. Every story truly does matter, and thanks to this dedicated crew, participants will have the tools to tell theirs safely and creatively.

Special thanks to our generous grantors, South Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, for funding this through the Cross-Sector Impact Grant awarded to our organization. Your support is making creative expression, healing, and community possible for brain injury survivors across the state. Every story truly matters!

Grateful for this team making it happen! Who's excited for the workshop?

We still have limited space available for those who have not yet signed up! This workshop is open to all brain injury survivors, caregivers, and family members who live in South Carolina.
