Breaking a pattern doesnāt feel like a breakthrough⦠it feels weird, awkward and wrong.
Itās saying less when you usually over-explain.
Itās not rescuing when you feel the pull to people-please.
Itās starting before you feel ready instead of procrastinating your way into safety.
And your nervous system will protest. Loudly.
Because to your brain, familiar = safe⦠even when itās not serving you.
So this work? Itās not about waiting until it feels natural.
Itās about doing the opposite while it feels unnatural⦠and staying there long enough for your system to realize:
āWait⦠weāre actually okay here.ā
That tight, itchy, cringey discomfort?
Thatās not danger. Thatās rewiring.
Repeat the new response.
Sit through the urge to retreat.
Let the wave crest and fall without obeying it.
And slowly, quietlyā¦
what once felt impossible starts to feel neutral.
Then normal.
Then you.
Not because you forced it.
But because you practiced a new way of beingāuntil your brain believed it.
