🎹 A Beautiful Duet of Courage and Wisdom 🎨At Thistle House Senior Living, magic happens in the most unexpected ways.
Just last week, our Executive Director, Rebecca, sat down at the piano in our common room. She had never played a single note in her life — not a chord, not a melody. But she decided it was time to challenge herself and give it a try. Her first attempts were… well, let's say they were brave and full of heart. ❤️
What happened next reminded all of us why this place is so special.
Bea, one of our beloved residents — 99 years young — heard those hesitant notes from down the hall. A lifelong musician and artist, Bea didn’t hesitate. She wheeled herself down the hall, smiled, chuckled and said, “What note are you looking for? Here…let me show you.”
And just like that, a beautiful partnership began.
Over the course of a week, Bea guided Rebecca with patience, laughter, and wisdom. They sat together in the afternoons — one with fresh determination, the other with a lifetime of experience. And by the end of the week? Rebecca could play an entire song. A full, beautiful song, thanks to Bea’s guidance and generous heart.
Moments like these are the soul of Thistle House. We’re constantly reminded that our residents are not defined by age, but by the lives they've lived, the skills they've honed, and the love they still have to give.
Bea didn’t just teach Rebecca to play the piano — she reminded us all that every resident here holds decades of knowledge, talent, and stories. At Thistle House, we cherish these moments. We don’t focus on what’s been lost with age — we focus on what remains, and what still shines bright.
So here’s to trying something new. And here’s to the wisdom that helps us along the way. 💜
