This year, we’re bringing extra Christmas cheer to every one of our residents through our “Adopt a Grandparent” program! Not everyone has family nearby, and we want to make sure no one feels left out during the holidays.

🐾 Meet Buster Brown! 🐾

While we love all the dogs who come to visit us from Almost Home, it’s hard not to play favorites with a boy this sweet! Buster Brown is the best boy and would make an amazing companion.
He’s a 3-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog who’s well-behaved, friendly with everyone, smart, and curious. If you’re looking to adopt your new best friend, Buster is waiting for you at Almost Home Animal Rescue in Chariton! 💙🐶

You haven’t met a sweet dog until you’ve met Poncho.
He was the absolute best boy—sweet, obedient, and endlessly friendly. Poncho had a heart full of love and a gentle spirit that made everyone feel at home. We were thrilled to spend some time with him at the memory care facility!
At 4 years old, this male Shetland Sheepdog would be the perfect addition to any family. With his loyal nature and warm personality, Poncho truly was one of a kind. If you are looking to adopt you can find Poncho at Almost Home Animal Rescue in Chariton!

This week we had Ms. Mable! She was such a treat to have! Very friendly, well-behaved, playful, and smart! Our residents made sure to give her lots of love! Linda thought she'd better give her a brush as well! If you’re looking to adopt, she is a medium mixed Terrier breed, and is at Almost Home Animal Rescue in Chariton! She hasn’t had the easiest life, but still manages to be the biggest sweetheart! Let’s find her a home!!

Help us help Almost Home Animal Rescue!

Homestead will be collecting donations at both our assisted living facility as well as the memory care facility to help make our furry friends feel safe, warm, and loved. We will be accepting donations from August 1st to 31st. Don't forget to stop in and grab a cookie after dropping something off. Thank you in advance. We appreciate you all!

Friday, our special guest from the Chariton pet shelter was Ms. Pam, the beagle! She was as sweet as they come, and the residents loved getting to give her some loving today! She was such a good girl! If you’re looking to adopt, she is a 2-year-old female beagle at almost home in Chariton.

Recently, we started a new program on Fridays! - “Adopt” a dog for the day. Last Friday, our little friend’s name was Willoughby! He was the sweetest boy, and everyone loved getting to give him pets and snuggles! We love getting to be a part of something that not only brings our residents joy but also gives a chance for the pups at the shelter to get some extra love and attention! If you’re looking to adopt, this guy is at Almost Home Animal Rescue in Chariton! He’s 3 months old and is an Aussie/lab/retriever mix!
