Experiencing firsthand the importance of expanding healthcare access in rural communities and the role future PAs play in closing those gaps❗️

A little throwback to last semester but our students had a rural medicine course where they learn about different barriers to care. They go to their rural towns, interview the residents, and then plan a service project to meet a need in the town.

A big thank you to the Mountaineer Montessori Upper Elementary classrooms for welcoming our very own UCPA program cardiology professor, Maddie Long, for a hands-on cardiovascular demonstration! ❤️🫀

Students explored how the circulatory system works, practiced listening to heart sounds, and learned how healthcare professionals use tools like stethoscopes to understand the body. To keep the curiosity going, each student received their own stethoscope to take home—hopefully inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals! 🩺✨

We are so grateful for classrooms that encourage curiosity, science, and big dreams for the future.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Peter Ward, Ph.D., as adjunct faculty for our Clinical Anatomy course, where he plays a significant role in the education of future physician assistants.

As one of the lead editors for the ninth edition of the "Netter Atlas of Human Anatomy," he is responsible for selecting and refining illustrations, updating terminology, and ensuring the content remains relevant to current clinical practices. His efforts enhance the educational experience for our students as well as aspiring healthcare professionals around the world.

By providing access to high-quality, clinically relevant resources, he contributes to the development of skilled practitioners across various medical fields. In addition to his role in our program, Dr. Ward also serves as faculty at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine.

We’re proud of our Medical Director and the important role she plays in our program and community health care.
