It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life well lived that we share the passing of our beloved founding director, Marie Beaver.
Marie went home to be with the Lord on the morning of March 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that is impossible to measure. As the founding director of Rea of Hope, Marie devoted her life to helping women find freedom from addiction and discover a new life rooted in faith, dignity, and purpose. Through her vision, compassion, and unwavering belief that recovery was possible for every woman, thousands of lives have been transformed.
Marie was more than a founding director—she was a mentor, a mother figure, a teacher, and a friend to so many who walked through the doors of Rea of Hope. She had a rare gift for seeing the potential in people even when they could not see it themselves. Her faith guided every decision she made and every life she touched.
Because of Marie’s obedience to God’s calling, Rea of Hope became a place where women found healing, families were restored, and hope was reborn. Her legacy lives on in every woman who has found recovery, every child reunited with their mother, and every life changed.
We ask that you keep Marie’s family, friends and the entire Rea of Hope community in your prayers during this time.
Funeral arrangements and obituary information are included below.
Marie’s life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and service. We will honor her by continuing the work she so faithfully began.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Celebrate the life of Helen Gibson-Beaver and join others in sharing memories, stories, and condolences.

Good morning friends and supporters! Help us congratulate Laura S., on her recent graduation from phase 1! We could not be more proud of the strength, grit, and determination she has shown along the way.
She faced adversity head-on, kept showing up (even on the hard days), and proved that growth happens one brave step at a time. 💪 Today, Laura is reconnecting with her children, showing up as a dependable and valued employee, and building a future filled with hope and purpose.
Laura, your perseverance inspires us. Your courage matters. And your story is still being written — and it’s a good one. 💙
Congratulations! 🎊

This week, Rea of Hope was honored to be invited as a special guest to city hall for Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin’s State of the City address. Mayor Goodwin highlighted Rea of Hope’s work in the city as recipients of the City of Charleston, WV Opioid Abatement Funds (administered by United Way of Central WV), to continue building community connections, removing barriers to success, and providing access to transportation for residents to things such as: job interviews, medical appointments, therapy, self-help meetings, and more. The funds will assist us in continuing to support family reunification, long-term recovery efforts and so much more! Executive Director, Haley Walker was in attendance representing Rea of Hope, along with phase 1 & phase 2 graduate and resident Beth Ann P. who recently celebrated one year of continuous abstinent sobriety! Thank you, Madam Mayor, for your faithful support of our program!
