Sleep deprivation is dangerous, and the science of sleep continues to delve into the quantity and quality of sleep needed for maintaining physical and mental health. A poor sleep schedule doesn’t just take a physical toll on the body. More evidence is arising from sleep studies to indicate that the toll on mental health well-being is equally as troubling.

There are plenty of things people can do day to day to enhance their quality of sleep. Some of these things include:

- Good sleep hygiene
- Keeping the bedroom free of clutter and technological distractions
- Using a night light with a warm glow instead of sunlight-provoking blue lights
- Breathing and stretching exercises
- Meditation apps with calming sounds/music

If you or anyone you know is experiencing challenges with insomnia, trauma, sleep terrors or nightmares, Centerway can help. Please call our office today at (843) 974-5622 for more details about getting on our schedule.

Sleep deprivation is no longer considered a badge of honor, and poor sleep habits have been linked to an array of physical and mental health concerns. Psychiatrist in Charleston, South Carolina. Centerway Behavioral Health.

You Are Not Alone

According to the National Alliance on Menta Health, millions of people in the U.S. are affected by mental illness each year.

19.1% of U.S. adults experienced mental illness in 2018 (47.6 million people). This represents 1 in 5 adults.

Centerway Behavioral Health is taking every precaution possible through this crisis the world is experiencing right now with COVID-19. A couple of these measures include:

- Extra sanitation throughout the building.
- Outdoor waiting area for patients who are interested.
- Not taking blood pressure - Keeping our distance.
- Video sessions to decrease the patient flow in the building.

As of right now, Centerway will remain open to patients until further notice, but we encourage you to take advantage of the tele-psychiatry sessions we are implementing versus coming to the clinic in person.

If you are experiencing symptoms (shortness of breath, coughing, dry throat, fever) please seek care from designated facilities (see tele-health options below) and please do NOT under any circumstances attend an in person session with us at Centerway.

We thank you for your cooperation and patience through this time, and we hope everyone is taking the necessary precautions and staying safe!

Sincerely,
Centerway Behavioral Health
