A new report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) finds that Medicare Advantage (MA) directories remain wildly inaccurate, and the underlying networks are inadequate to meet enrollees’ needs:https://oig.hhs.gov/documents/evaluation/11233/OEI-02-23-00540.pdf

So-called “ghost networks,” where inactive or nonexistent providers are listed to mask the limited number of in-network options, continue to be a major problem in MA.

During Medicare open enrollment, be sure to call your providers directly and verify that they are in network before signing up for any Medicare Advantage plan! Visit www.mhanet.org/Medicare for more information and a checklist to help find the plan that's best for you.
