Researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina are conducting an online study on a 5-session therapy for recent trauma survivors. Payment of up to $315 is offered to those who qualify. You may be eligible if you are 18 years or older, experienced a traumatic event in the last year, and drink alcohol.

Congratulations to Drs. Sudie Back, Kevin Gray and other collaborators on their new publication in NCBI - National Center for Biotechnology Information.

The study tested N-acetylcysteine (NAC) as a treatment for people with co-occurring PTSD and alcohol use disorder (AUD). In this randomized controlled trial, participants receiving NAC and those receiving placebo while also completing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for AUD. Both showed significant improvements in PTSD symptoms, alcohol use, and cravings. However, NAC was not more effective than placebo.
