Progressive Breath Ladder
This builds CO₂ tolerance, strengthens the diaphragm, and conditions your nervous system to stay calm under rising CO₂ levels.
Start here:
1️⃣ Inhale through the nose for 5 seconds
2️⃣ Hold for 6 seconds
3️⃣ Exhale through the mouth for 7 seconds
4️⃣ Hold at the bottom for a moment
5️⃣ Repeat 3–5 cycles
When this feels smooth and controlled, move to the next ladder:
Next level:
• Inhale 6 seconds
• Hold 7 seconds
• Exhale 8 seconds
• Hold briefly at the bottom
Repeat a few cycles.
Next:
• Inhale 7 seconds
• Hold 8 seconds
• Exhale 9 seconds
Continue moving up gently —
✨ only as far as you can stay relaxed
✨ no forcing, no strain
Stop at your max comfortable inhale, hold, and exhale capacity, and then slowly return to normal breathing.
This builds:
💛 CO₂ tolerance
💛 Emotional resilience
💛 Oxygen efficiency (Bohr effect)
💛 Calm under pressure
💛 Nervous system stability
