Closing out Social Worker Month with deep gratitude. đź’™

To every social worker supporting youth, children, and teens across West Virginia, thank you for your heart, your strength and your commitment.

We were overwhelmed (in the best way possible đź’š ) by the number of submissions, more than we could ever fit in one post!

And while March ends today, our appreciation for you continues every single day.

Belonging to a close-knit team and knowing that you're appreciated for both your work and as a whole person matters. Today, we're celebrating Cathy, HR Manager, for her kindness and support of other KVC team members. Hear about how she makes an impact and lifts the spirits of those around her:

"Cathy embodies KVC values, and I feel so much better after speaking with her. When I feel down or defeated, she shows compassion and empathy, and has a way of helping me to put things into perspective. By the end of our conversations, I leave with a better attitude and renewed mindset. In our last conversation, I shared some personal things, and she empathized with my concerns and brainstormed ideas that would end up as a win-win, a perfect balance, for my personal and work life. I wholeheartedly appreciate Cathy, and she deserves all the recognition in the world. Thank you for being YOU, Cathy!"

Some leaders move the work forward, while others move people forward. Tamara does both. 👏

Tamara, Regional Director at KVC West Virginia, was described simply and powerfully: “Tamara is a go getter. She is always logical, thoughtful and direct in interactions. She knows how to get things done and how to keep people motivated to do their best. Her willingness to help is always appreciated.”

And that drive shows up where it matters most.

Tamara leads many of our drug court clinical assessments, building strong relationships throughout the community and connecting in meaningful ways with youth and families. She brings clarity to complex situations, steadiness under pressure and a deep commitment to helping people move forward.

Dedicated. Calm. Always willing to step in and help.

We’re grateful for leaders like Tamara who turn momentum into impact and make sure the work keeps moving for children, individuals and families across West Virginia. 💙

Social Worker Spotlight: Abbey!

When you think about consistency, growth and heart for the work, Abbey comes to mind.

As one leader shared, “When I think of someone who is committed and dedicated to her clients and the work we do at KVC, I think of Abbey.”

For nearly four years, Abbey has continued to grow as a social worker, taking on different roles while staying rooted in what matters most, showing up for her clients. Through challenges, transitions and tough moments, she has remained steady, giving the people she serves a place to feel seen and heard.

Her dedication shows up when it counts most. In high-pressure moments, when challenges arise unexpectedly, Abbey stays grounded. She adjusts, refocuses and continues creating a safe, steady space for her clients. Calm. Professional. Present.

Abbey leads with empathy for her clients and her coworkers and consistently advocates for what is in the best interest of those she serves.

Compassionate. Trauma-informed. Dedicated. A steady presence and a growing leader.

We’re so thankful for Abbey and the impact she continues to make in Martinsburg and beyond! 💙

A big thank you to our amazing community for supporting children and families in West Virginia! đź’™

This week, we received a generous donation of diapers and wipes. Donations like these help ensure youth have the everyday essentials they need to feel safe, cared for and supported!

Because every person deserves to feel safe and connected to a strong family and a healthy community, we’re grateful for partners who help make that possible.

Social Worker Spotlight: Brittany đź’™

At KVC West Virginia, we all need connection and Brittany makes sure the young women in our Transitional Living home feel it every single day.

As Program Manager, Brittany shows up with heart and purpose. As one teammate shared, “Brittany puts her heart and soul into fulfilling her job role as Program Manager. She really cares for the youth under her supervision and makes sure they are up-to-date on trainings, school work and appointments.”

That care shows up in the small but powerful moments, like confirming a young woman’s upcoming appointment with a coworker and making sure she knew exactly when to be ready. Consistency. Follow-through. Calm support. Those everyday actions build trust and confidence for youth preparing for adulthood.

We’re so grateful for social workers like Brittany who lead with compassion and make connection part of everything they do. 💙 She's so dedicated, calm under pressure, and most importantly, a supportive teammate who truly goes above and beyond!

Social Worker Spotlight: Sara đź’™

Great leadership isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it looks like making sure everyone has a seat at the table.

As Regional Director, Sara leads with intention and heart. One team member shared, “Sara does a great job of involving all of her team in what’s going on within the organization. She is kind, thoughtful and works to make sure that everyone is heard.”

That kind of leadership creates something powerful — trust.

Sara pays attention to the details. The check-ins. The follow-ups. The “little things” that often matter most. Those small moments build strong teams, and strong teams create better outcomes for children, individuals and families.

The photo shared with this nomination includes another beloved team member, Michelle, who we remember and miss deeply. Her presence in this memory is a reminder that the connections built within this team run deep. The way Sara leads, with compassion and care helps create a workplace where people feel supported, valued and remembered.

Compassionate. Supportive. Thoughtful.

This Social Worker Month, we’re grateful for leaders like Sara and we honor the bonds that make this work more than just a job. 💙
