Charleston Family Counseling

Charleston Family Counseling Sara Sharnoff Tick is a licensed couples and family therapist living in Charleston, SC. You want to feel appreciated, connected, and lit up again.

When you first started dating, it was all laughs, flowers, and romantic nights out together. Now your Saturday nights revolve around watching TV while you each scroll through your cell phones. You haven’t exchanged more than a few glances and the only discussion today revolved around carpool schedules and reminders to buy more milk tomorrow. You didn’t know it was possible to feel lonely while not technically being alone. You try to practice gratitude and remind yourself that things are ok, but deep down you know that your relationship could be so much more. I am solution oriented and I love helping couples communicate effectively around their needs and desires. Our work together is interactive and collaborative. I can help you get unstuck, break old patterns, and reconnect with one another. Finding a therapist is a bit like dating. There are so many different therapists to choose from, and reaching out is one way to decide if I’m a good fit for you and your family. Call or schedule a free 15 minute consultation to learn more about teletherapy services available anywhere in South Carolina.

Dealing with Family Stress Over the Holidays?

We all know the holidays can be fun, but they can also be... well, a lot, especially when it comes to family. If you’re already stressing about awkward conversations, old arguments, or just the general pressure of holiday gatherings, you’re not alone.

Here are a few tips to keep your cool:

✨ Set boundaries: It’s totally okay to say no or take a breather when things get too intense. Your peace matters!

✨ Take care of yourself: Sneak in some self-care before and after the big family meetups. Even a quick walk or a few deep breaths can make a difference.

✨ Forget perfection: Spoiler alert—things don’t have to be perfect. Trying to make everything "just right" only adds extra stress.

✨ Control what you can: You can’t change how others act, but you can choose how you respond. Focus on what brings you joy, not what’s out of your hands.

Need help navigating family drama or holiday stress? I’m here for you—whether it’s virtual or in-person. Don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s tackle this season together! 💛
