Winter Is the Season of Rest and Renewal: The Power of No, Thank You!
In Chinese Medicine, winter is a time to slow down and nurture yourself. The season is all about conserving energy, just like nature does—trees stop growing, animals hibernate, and the world feels quieter. It’s the time of year when seeds gather their strength, before flourishing into their full expression in spring and summer.
At Epiphany, we try to embrace this rhythm by allowing ourselves more rest, staying cozy, and saying no to things that drain my energy. It’s not laziness; it’s intentional renewal. Our bodies and minds need this pause to recharge. Yes, it’s safe–essential really–to take it easy this time of the year. The dividends will pay off for the entire year!!
What’s one way you can embrace rest this winter? Maybe it’s an early bedtime, a warm cup of chamomile and goji berry tea, or simply giving yourself permission to pause. What do you want to say no to this week?
