After five years of work, the MUSC
Multidisciplinary center for endometriosis has finally come together. Congratulations to Anna Kerr who has been named the centers coordinator. 10% of women in the world suffer from this disease and an estimated 320,000 S. Carolinians as well.
The Center offers a combined approach to diagnosis and treatment, and I’m proud to be able to offer this along with my colleagues. I believe this has filled a void that has existed in women’s GYN care and I’m excited to be a part of this.

I completed my 1000 primary robotic case today. MUSC staff, VA OR staff and Intuitive rep were very nice to recognize this milestone. So proud to be able to offer simpler and less invasive solutions for complex surgical problems to many women using this amazing tool.

What a year! I am sure all of you have been quite stressed over our life change in view of the pandemic. One thing I know is we are all adaptable to life changes an do our bests for our families, friends and neighbors. For those of you that have personally been touched by COVID, I pray that you are healthy and safe. For those of you that have lost loved ones from the illness,I pray that you take comfort in that they are with the Lord.
On a personal level, my family and I are all in good health now, all having recovered from COVID.
Professionally, I must say that I have been extremely busy. I have developed quite a large referral practice for the treatment of severe endometriosis and minimally invasive treatment of fibroids and infertility problems. I have the privilege of working with a team of surgeons and professionals that share the common goal of dealing with these difficult problems and are excited to be able to offer many women life altering solutions. We are currently in the process of branding a center for treatment of these conditions, incorporating multidisciplinary approaches to treatment to include medical, psychological, physical therapy and surgical services. We hope that this will be a one stop place for many women that have been to many places that only provide partial solutions. Stay tuned for further news. I am quite excited for this project. Although I know this is my calling, I very much miss my private practice and my interaction with all of you that made that part of my life possible. I love seeing news of your families and children that I had the privilege of delivering and that are now becoming adults.
I hope that all of you have wonderful holidays, and hope for a return to a more normal way of life soon.

Well, after 30 years of practice I am no longer taking OB call. This is bittersweet as I have enjoyed and have had the privilege of helping to bring so many lives into this world. Although I will continue to deliver some, the majority of my time and efforts are now geared to providing minimally invasive surgical alternatives to women that truly need it. I am blessed with this opportunity and thankful to MUSC and Dr. Donna Johnson for providing me the resources and time to fulfill this task.

An end of the year update,

It's hard to believe that we have been gone from Augusta for 3.5 years. What I miss the most about my private practice are
the many relationships developed over the 25 years of practice in Augusta. I keep up with many of you on facebook and enjoy watching families grow. I love seeing children I delivered becoming successful and forming families of their own. This keeps me connected and at times nostalgic.
My professional life is very different, as the majority of my new patients are referrals from all over the state for complex surgery. This is rewarding in its own way, but very different from private practice. In the end, what matters the most is that I am able use my God given skills to help many women in need. I still love my job!
On a personal note, my wife and children love Charleston and all are doing well.

I hope all of you have a very happy New Year, filled with joy, love and health.
